Yes, after a dog has had it litter, it can be spayed. There is a waiting period after the pups are born tho and you'll need to discuss these specifics with your vet.

I have had this same deal before, yes a dog can be spayed after her pups care weaned and milk has completely dried up and before she comes into heat again I don't know if there is a medical reason for my next sentence but it seems to happen this way alot,,, if a dog is spayed before ever having pups she doesn't gain as much weight and stays active and healthy longer, I've had one dog spayed after pups and a couple spayed before ever having pups,, hope this helps,,

Absolutely get her spayed.- it's the best thing you can do for her. Remember that a female dog can become pregnant soon after the puppies are born- and can be spayed after they are weaned. You can allow her a couple of weeks to recuperate from nursing puppies, especially if she has had weight loss, or a difficult birth.

Kudos to dog owners who spay and neuter!

What do you mean? As in right after??
Need more info.
But technically, yes you can spay a dog after puppies, just give them some time after. Your vet can tell you when it is safe.

yes, you most certainly can. In fact, some breeders will have their dog spayed immediately after a C section has been performed.

Usually she is able to be spayed once the puppies are weened and her milk has dried up.

As in *right* after? Your vet would likely recommend that you wait until the puppies are weaned.

Any time after that, yes.

You need to wait until after the pups are weaned and her milk has dried up, then yes, you can spay her.

Of course.

But if you wait that long, her risk of mammary cancer goes way up, and she risks getting pyometra, a nasty infection of the uterus, in which case you'll have to have her spayed anyway to save her life.
