Technically you are right. Myth is a mixture of truth and exaggeration that teaches a lesson or explains some mystery of existence. The stories in the bible are myth, like the creation of the world and the creation of man. However, I don't think they should be put into the myth section because the myths deal with their spirituality and teach them religious lessons that are part of any religious following. Also, like you can tell from the posts before mine, most people don't consider these stories as myths (though they are no matter how much someone might deny it). I think if religion didn't play an integral part in people's lives it would be put in Mythology but religious myths are held to a higher stander than some other myths because they are more important in people's lives thus earning their own section.

The belief that has been in the past and still is today one of the most powerful means at the disposal of the oppressors for the maintenance of inequality, exploitation, and slavish obedience on the part of the toilers. Religion is a childish notion which finds no confirmation in practical life and in the struggle between man and nature. But it is profitable to the predatory class to maintain the ignorance of the people and to maintain the people's childish belief in miracles (the key to the riddle really lies in the exploiters' pockets), and this is why religious prejudices are so tenacious, and why they confuse the minds even of persons who are in other respects able.

That is why i am an atheist.

Technically speaking. A Mythology is the stories of a given religion. So if you here someone talk of the Xian or Muslim mythology, they refer to the stories.

Myth and Theory are words that are almost always misconstrued by fundies.

Why do atheists come in here at all? Shouldn't they stick to the science section? Oh yeah... science requires an objective mind.

It's a bigger issue, and just because people still follow it means that it's not considered Mythology just yet. Even though it will be, no matter what they do. Because it is

It's not there because Yahoo isn't run by dogmatic, narrow-minded, totalitarians, of course. Since a large number of various people believe their various religions, Yahoo respects that. A narrow-minded totalitarian, on the other hand, like Pol Pot or Stalin, would demand that everyone adhere to his little world view.

Many myths and folktales have some grain of truth in their origins, or tell a tale with some morality in it. The same can not be said of religion!
