I'm having a lot of trouble understanding God and the Bible. I'm of Luthern religion which is Christian and I have a "Good News" Bible. The trouble is that the "Good News" Bible is nothing but bad news!

In Job, it's clearly said that humans and angels are forever unworthy of God. If it wasn't for Jesus' sacrifice for our sins we wouldn't have not a hope in the world of God accepting us. So basically you and I are pieces of **** from the beginning. Am I wrong? That makes me feel real good. Thanks for all the confidence Lord.

From all the stories I've read so far seems it that God is a mass murderer with an anger management problem. I can't believe how many times I've read that he's killed somebody.

Speaking of Job, what do you say to one of the servants that was killed while God and Satan made friendly bets on his devotion. What did any servant do wrong besides innocently serve Job? Nothing! He died because God said so. That's awful.

I can't believe it! Our Lord is out of control!

The Bible shows how precious and dear we are to God. It is ultimatley proven, " in that while we were still sinners", God sent Jesus to redeem us. So, no, you and I are not meaningless to God.

Anytime God sent punishment to people, He always warned them and gave them plenty of oppourtunites to repent. He did this with of Noah and with Sodom and Gomorrah.

God did not barter with Satan in dealing with Job as a way to gain pleasure from Job's misery, but to prove to Satan that Job would still remain faithful to God despite all the hardships he endured. And Job did just that! He remained faithful to God. And what did God do to reward Job? God gave Job back everything he lost times 1,000. God used this situtation to gives us an example of hope, courage, and perserverance in really bad time. Just a side note: God was bragging to Satan about how devoted and upstanding Job was!!

As far as all that goes, if you can answer this one question about God, you will have great wisdom: If the whole Jesus thing is a hoax and you decide you want to be more than just atheist, I mean you want to do what yo believe is the right thing and help rid the world of the fallacies of religion, then what would you do? Dress up like a superhero or become the first martyr for atheists? Write more books that nobody buys or get a PHD and teach everybody that everybody is making big mistakes and has faulty culture and values?

Being of the Luthern religion is not your problem. ALL religious organizations have their pet doctrines. You need to get a King James Version (not because it's 'perfect', it's not)
because it dates back to 1611. I doubt the "Good News" Bible is 50 years old(although it's easy to read). And, it would be a good idea to stop judging God for all His "murders", you don't have all the facts... God does.

Next you need a Strong's Concordance of the Hebrew and Greek(the two languages of the Bible) so you can understand the true meaning of Bible words(not what your church says)

Then pray for God to open your mind and heart to receive HIS pure word. If you are not the studious type, here's an online resourse: http://www.PTM.org

wow! i read the King James version I've read the book of Job satan went to God and wanted to test Job God said he could do everything but take his life. it wasn't a bet God knew that Job would still be faithful and come through knowing that God still loved him. God is loving he sent his son for us sinners and Jesus died on the cross willingly for us John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Yes we are sinners think about it & look up Romans 3:23, Romans3:19, Romans 6:23, Rev.20:14 & 14:11, Matthew 1:21, 1Peter3:18, Romans 10:11, 1 timothy 1:15. Romans 4:5, John 6:29, Romans 3:28 1John 5:11 " And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his son." Don't give up on God, look at what he's given us a free gift, eternal life Heaven to dwell with him. My advice is to look up those verses and maybe pray bf you do so you will come to btter understand the Bible. I get frusterated too sometimes but what i do know is that Jesus Christ died for us on calvary he is my redeemer my savior, Is he yours? Good luck to you & if you want to talk more you can email me at vns_prscll@yahoo.com

You see, one of the many problems with religion is that parent's force their own religion on their kids. The Bible thumpers that will defend it to the death are just trying to make Daddy proud. If they were informed on all the religions and not just told they were the path to Hell, I seriously doubt so many people would be Christian now. I'm Greek Polytheistic. I only chose this because it does not come with an assembly manual telling me how I have to pray and other stuff like that. I think Christianity would be alot better if they chucked the bible.

I've come to see a number of themes that seem to be common to most religions. One of these is the idea that God punishes the wicked and rewards the good, whether that's in physical terms or spiritual terms depends on the religion. Regardless, some of these are most definitely man-made, as far as I can tell.

Don't depend on one group's definition of God for your own. Even if that group is a billion-strong, they don't necessarily have any greater idea than the rest of us. If you want to find God, look further than the bible.

Wow. What in the world? Throw that Bible out and get the NSV. Please stay out of the Old Testament until you get a better grip on who God is. I can tell you are a bit upset at God, which is OK. But, you best study him out more (New Testament - Jesus). God will forgive your ignorance, and loves you regardless of what you do, think and say. You just can't accept that he also punishes and disciplines you. Hebrews 12:5And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."[a]
7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Good luck.

Howdo,

Relax, what your doing is reading it wrong, sorry to say Millions are right in front, and behind you, ready to swallow Biblical Literal text.

The "Bibles" are written for the Spiritual to interpret; the language is Spiritual and not intended to "mean what it says in literal terms";

It is All Symbolic.

The "Devil" ISEN'T a being as you.

The "Devil" REPRESENTS mans self centered self serving Spritual level; remember, many who had a hand in "writing" the bible simply "saw it as they saw it" and wrote it down as they "saw it"; they could do no better.

Job, God, the Devil and friendly bets were about man Eventually finding "God" in that Spiritual sense as man will eventualy find his way despite his constant self serving delusions. It's like saying the "Devil" influences man" and this influence is destroyed in Revelations upon the "Devil" bveing cast into the bottomless pit; the "bottomless" thing making it clear that this issue of mans self serving B.S. ($, FAME) in front is cast away as man is educated in Sprituality.

Jesus was about the Truth as he Symbolicaly Represented Truth. And by "believing in the Truth" shall find "God".

Truth meaning your self discovery in regards to your roll with "God" and your journey to find him in reality, it was never intended to serve as a religion and Much of the text is distorted to suit Christian Dogma and serve the Church above truth.

The "Lord" is not out of control and never was; as he spoke of "false Prophets" bring false word so he spoke of the Church.

Certainly the Church as an institution Built up Jesus as "an idol" to be worshipped as it fit there needs of a centerpeice to run thier "business"...$$$, bling-bling...

JESUS NEVER was part of this, and served as the Truth to see your Own way around this "Devil" of delusions.

To seek "God", Jesus is that truth within the Trinity; as Jesus walked a long-long path finding his way he is telling each "I am the way"...and in this he is saying aloud : " the Truth is the way".

Either you read and understand or you don't. I read the Bible too, but I receive a different message.

I get the impression that you value things in this world too much.
