I just wondered, I mean really, really believe about 2 animals of each kind etc.

Wow, you know, I really think some of you do,

I sometimes wonder if this is some sort of Christian in joke, to pretend it's literally true, but it seems it isn't.

And thanks for reminding me of the 7 of clean beasts, I had forgotten that-that clears up the inbreeding question then. but brings the size one into further perspective.

This is a bit frightening.

A few asked: I am an agnostic broadly speaking, but with some near certainties, one is that I'm "anArkist", I hadn't thought of that construction before, ha ha.

You know, if people want to believe that this literally happened, who am I to burst their bubble. God can do anything, right?

Personally, I believe it's a story that some kinda primitive people told to try to make sense out of some awful natural disaster.

It's an interesting topic, but there isn't a lot or any evidence that it happened. While the ark might have been big enough, barely, for the animals, the space gets pretty tight when it comes to food espcially for the large herbivores. Then there is the fact that there is not enough hydrogen present on earth for that much water, or any evidence for that type of devastation. Also that depth of water would have destroyed most if not all plant life as well as their seeds.

Metaphorically, I'm not sure that it teaches a lot, except that our kind forgiving god can punish us but we have to forgive others... rather a mixed message.

Actually, the 2 of each kind explanation is a bit simplistic. But, I suspect you already know that.

To answer your question, yes, I do believe it happened. However, it is entirely a belief as any wooden boat from that period would have most likely disintegrated in the intervening years, so we would have no proof.

I even have developed a hypothesis that the flood described the inundation of the Mediterranean Basin from the Atlantic. Someday, if I ever get the opportunity, I would love to try to find some evidence to test my ideas.

I believe the Bible is accurate in many ways. So many things have been found to be accurate through archeology that were once disputed. I think something like Noah's Ark happened, maybe not exactly like the story, but similar. I've learned because of recent discoveries not to dispute the Bible or legends such as Atlantis. These things are so incredibly ancient and I find them fascinating.

I would say that welding in the era before electricity generation is fairly unlikely but then again talking snakes and women made out of ribs ain't exactly easy to swallow. noah probably just made his boat the old fashioned way by rubbing two ships together.

I'll raise my hand on that one.

Am still wondering what the "anomoly" is that was spotted by satellite on the side of the mountain. Am wondering why the newer satellites either won't be sent to see, or won't release what's been photo'd. Am wondering why the Turkish government won't allow archeology teams to go in.

Lot to wonder about.

Not me! How logical is that story? How big was that ark? How did they carry enough food for all the animals? There are too many illogical aspects to believe in it.

I'm sure there are people that do believe it, remarkably. Probably the same people who believe in an all seeing all knowing invisible man in the sky.

Yes absolutly, and it wasn't just two of every kind, it was seven of the clean animals ans 2 of the unclean animals. Why is it so hard to believe in the flood, you probly believe in evolution, and that is even harder to belive in.

It would have to be a big-*** boat to hold all those animals and their feed --- and who cleaned up all that poo?

Also, why didn't Noah swat the mosquitos when he had the chance?
