It's all a mess... If they want to call dog fighting a sport... fine. If they want to compare it to hunting... fine. If they want to compare it to raising animals for slaughter... fine. I can go that route. Do they ever stop to think that it isn't so much the fighting that has everyone upset? That maybe it's the horrible way the dogs were killed who were culled. That's what bothers me the most. That was just perverse. I raise cattle, we send them to market, someone else buys them, they eventually end up on our tables as steaks. But, I have never picked up a calf and slammed it's head down on the concrete numerous times to kill it. Hubby hunts, he's a good shot, one shot, the deer is down, he has never wrestled it up a tree and hung it and watched it twitch. Nor have we ever sprayed one down with water and poked it with a bare wire. Are all these people missing this? How can they defend this during the day and sleep at night? The dog fighting is bad, I don't like it, but the killing was far far worse. That makes the people who did it monsters in my mind. They could have easily shot those dogs and made it fast. But they didn't. They tortured them.... they had to enjoy the hurt... how else can you explain it? I was a big Vick fan and I have tried to understand, but I can't. I wish I could, but I can't. I could forgive the fighting as a bad judgement, I can't forgive the kill.

I'm not a hunter, but I couldn't agree with you more. If one more person tries to compare hunting to dogfighting, I think I'm gonna' be sick.
I lived in an area of Michigan where hunting was huge, and where the deer population was enormous. If we didn't have hunters up there, we would have had - as you say - a huge population of starving deer. There's just no comparison between the two - hunting for food and to keep populations under control vs. throwing two animals in a pit to fight to the death.
The people denigrating hunters or comparing these two "sports" are ridiculous. But hunters are always an easy target for dumb people and for the media.

It must be the suited form of plant existence. As pronounced above, deer are browsers; grasses at the instant are not a huge area of their weight-help plan. whilst there are too many deer in a community, no longer merely do they starve themselves by using over-surfing, they harm the atmosphere by skill of scuffling with woodland regeneration and destruction of songbird habitat. Sustainable deer populations selection from 20 to twenty-5 deer according to sq. mile of habitat. some areas of the U.S. have populations 4 cases that many. the end result isn't merely ravenous deer and deer which will come into human settlements, however the surviving deer are smaller with weaker bones, inadequate fat reserves and occasional duplicate expenditures. it is predicted there are extra deer contained in united states of america now than there have been whilst the 1st ecu settlers arrived. Deer have some distance fewer organic predators than they did in those days on the grounds that wolves, wild cats and bears have been regularly eradicated in many areas of the country. it is gotten to the element that deer are actual transforming into pests in various areas. there's a great form of communicate approximately what to do, yet there's a time-honored settlement that there at the instant are too many deer and it is not solid for the two the deer or the atmosphere. And forget approximately approximately PETA; those morons have been given all their awareness of the situation by skill of watching "Bambi." the excellent occasion of this grew to become into whilst Florida grew to become into going to strengthen the searching season by way of fact of a intense deer inhabitants subject. PETA intervened and 1000's of 1000's of deer starved to loss of existence.

Michael Vick did another terrible thing wrong. That's it. Nothing else matters. He's a punk that didn't deserve the glory of fame. I live in Virginia, where he's from. When I moved here a couple of years ago, he was in the news for pulling a gun on someone in a parking lot. So, this is no surprise that he's in the news AGAIN for breaking the law.

you are very right. i am tired of people saying hunting is worse than dog fighting. When people hunt deer, they dont starve, beat, drown, or burn it. do they? no. its one bullet.
