The packs are a group of extras added to a basic model to make it more attractive to purchasers as they would normally have to pay for such things. Sport packs are usually alloy wheels and/or spoilers, clever packs may be satellite navigation etc. Check carefully before buying as you may get a better lower price for the basic model and buy the extras later.

A "pack" is one way in which the manufacturer offers options on new cars.

Optional equipment may be offered individually, or may be offered in a "pack" which usually offers better value.

For example, when I bought my car, I could have added a sunroof as a stand alone option for £700, but instead opted for the "Comfort Pack" which cost £750, and comprised the sunroof, a CD-autochanger, electric folding mirrors and a hands-free keycard.

The items included in each pack differ depending on the make, model, version and model year of the car, and also on the country in which it was originally sold.

You must be referring to package options. Nowadays, more and more car companies are selling options in packages like the German cars instead of selling individual options separately. It really depends on what car you're looking at. They all have different packages.

For instance, I think on a BMW 3-series, the Sport Package comes with more supportive seats with side bolsters, bigger wheels, and stiffer suspension on the sedans. The Premium Package include things like moonroof, leather seats, etc.

So in a lot of cases, you can't just order one option without having to order others. It's a sales tactic. They're making you drop more cash than you really want to.
