Well, unfortunately, genetics has a lot to play in it. If there is a history of overweight people in your family, it could make it harder for you to lose weight. However, a healthy diet with plenty of exercise is the key. Taking in calories and carbs is a give/take relationship. Whatever you take in and then don't use, you're body then stores for later. So the book answer would be to use more calories than you take in. Also, drinking plenty of water (at least 64 oz. a day) is really gonna help flush some of that unwanted excess out of your system. As it goes with exercise, you want to do plenty of cardio. Tennis is great. You really want to get your heart rate up so that your body has to use up those calories and carbs for energy. But once again, drink plenty of water, so as not to get dehydrated. And give it some time. Losing weight is an arduous process that typically takes a couple months to really get going. So don't get down on yourself, and most importantly, don't give up. I personally believe one of the most important keys to losing weight is a positive attitude and believing that what you're doing is working. Even if what you're doing isn't giving you huge results within the first few weeks, you're going to be healthier and you will feel better. So good luck!

It's really good that you're so active. What you need to do is think carefully about your diet. Do you eat anything that is perhaps very high in fat and sugary? If so, cut this out of your diet. Try eating fresh meat, fish and vegetables, and eat three times a day. That is important. Eat fruit too. Otherwise, you are doing everything right. The reason you haven't been losing weight though, is definitely due to your diet. You need to make some changes on that front.

The best way to loose weight if you are already very active is to cut your calories. You can loose up to 8 pounds a month by cutting 1000 calories from you daily life. You probably already burn quite a few of those calories so reduce your intake of high calorie foods and you will find yourself loosing weight. Don't starve yourself, just make healthier choices, eat smaller portions, and try eating more frequently. 5 small meals a day is a great way to loose weight.

Stop eating anything that has any Saturated Fat, Trans Fat, Polysaturated or Monosaturated Fat. All these on the Nutrition labels should read "0". Do not eat anything that does not have a Nutrition Label.

Stop eating out, even "good" places that promise "healthy" food. Stop eating out, period.

Do not eat processed Sugar (sugar coated anything or any desserts, sodas, chocolates, candies). Use very little quantity of Honey in your beverages. Do not over do aritificial sweetners as they can be carcinogenic and could cause cancers.

Do not eat anything that has Yeast in it as it will bloat you.
Use Fat Free milk and Yogurt.

Use only Italian Dressing in your sandwiches. Do not use Mayo or ceasar or any fancy dressing like thousand island or anything.

Eat a lot of fruits for natural sugar, eat brown rice, eat unleavened bread, fat free milk and fat free yogurt, fat free meat - lean meat like turkey and fat free ham.

And do cardio exercises for 45 minutes everyday and also keep playing tennis. Easiest cardio exercise is an Elliptical. If you like running, do the treadmill for 45 minutes. If you have a weak knee do the elliptical.

I am very positive you will get to your goal in 4 months flat!

Also eat every 3 hours during the day as per the advised nutrition tips above. Do NOT starve. You will only gain weight.

Cheers
God Bless You.

Look at what you are eating. Start a food journal. You will be surprised at what you are eating. Do this for a week.
Then take a serious look at what you ate.
Cut out all the extra calories. goodies. Also look at when you are eating those and when you eat. Do you eat a lot when you are upset or depressed or stressed out.
If necessary cut back on your portions at your meals.
You may do better eating 6 small meals than 3 larger meals.
Just remember what works for one may not work for you
Good Luck

I have the same problem, I play soccer almost everyday, but i guess that its just the body type that you inherited. I try to build a little muscle from time to time so that when i do play that it increases the fat/calories that i burn. I think that its a slow an timely process, but im also trying to eat healthy and get enough rest.
Hope the little tips i gave helps..
