I just had an idea. Would you get a tattoo of Levitcus 19:28, just for the raw irony of it?

Lev. 19:28

"Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD."

And no, I don't worry about stupid tattoos. I've got Convers All-Stars tattooed on my ankles where they would be on the shoe. I don't get to make fun of anyone's tattoos.

Now, that's what I call a Walking Sandwich Board! (lol from a card-carrying Christian).

Perhaps we can make a similar point for Muslims - take the words of Jesus, 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone', and inscribe them on the Kabbalah.

Only, that's not funny. Some things just cannot raise a smile.

I actually haven't gotten a tattoo because I don't think there's anything I could get that I'd still approve of in 10 years. That quote from Leviticus is perfect though.

Wow, you type all that and what people read is, "What do you think about tattoos and would you get one?" Bad luck.

But to answer your (not) question, I love my two tattoos and am always interested in everyone else's.

To answer your question - yes, good observation of irony. I woudln't do it (jokes are too short-lived) but it's a cool idea.

I definitely would do that- right across my back. I want to get Dawkin's Scarlet Letter on the back of my neck or on the wrist, a skinny puppy SP logo and something HR Giger anywhere.

I already have one of Bill the Cat (my last answers avatar/screen name)

I hate to admit it, but I had never seen that scripture before. Thanks for calling it to my attention. I get the irony of having that done. How about this, having a tattoo that says: " A tattoo is a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling."

I'm a christian and i have 2 tattoo's. i LOVE them and i wouldn't change em for the world.

i would get another tattoo but i wouldn't get that verse tatted on me because it doesn't stand out to me. but it would be ironic and great at the same time of someone did it.

I would never want to get a tattoo, but I must admit that's a rather funny idea. If anyone goes ahead and does it, send me a photograph. :P

LOL

I had a boyfriend that wanted to do the shoelaces on the tops of his feet, but settled for a tattoo of a band-aid on his arm.

Haha...that's actually a good idea. Wonder if anyone's ever done it.

I should pass this along to my husband...he's a tattoo fanatic and (despite claiming Catholicism,) would probably run out and have this verse permanently stuck to his body.

That'd be kind of a wordy tattoo just for the sake of irony. I prefer my irony to be more concise and less painful.
