Office visit + anesthesia fee, unless the vet waives one or the other. My 14 year old dog racked up well over $1000 in tests and treatment before we discovered the problem was terminal cancer. The vet waived the fee to put him to sleep.

IF you have a legit reason (and not just because you don't want the cat anymore) then call the vets in your phone book and ask them. They're the best way to know what your area charges. Then call the animal shelter and ask what they charge.

i worked for a vet who who did it for free if cat was client and sick otherwise it was 33
