I don't nearly claim to understand why a loving God allows pain and suffering in the world. That's something much much wiser men and women have been analyzing for centuries and my guess is that it won't be resolved today on Y!A.
But I also know that omnipotence isn't the same as magic. Samantha Stevens might have been able to twitch her nose and make polio and small pox go away, but God doesn't seem to work that way.
Polio and small pox and other awful things were eliminated or ameliorated by people who were using the gifts that God gave them in their lives.

Germs and viruses are a part of the evolutionary soup that God allowed to be created. Over time God expected his children to learn how to overcome the problems wild life, germs, and other hazards that would be found. God gave us mind to think with, to problem solve with, to love one another with, and learn how to use wisely. This is in preparation for the actuality of having to become an eternal spirit in a vastness of the universe of universes where there are yet even more both beautiful things and things to overcome. Again, good contrasted by bad is the only way to know about this stuff. If God did it all for us what good would we be?

First He did not give it, the world did. He is the one who gave the scientist the ability to create the vaccine. All things in this world change and mutate any scientist will tell you that, especially virus', germs and bacteria. They are throughout the world because man brought it into the world with his sin, not because God created it. It is a mutation of what God created, we caused the mutating.

Sin gave us polio and small pox and that evil can bring it back or worse at any moment and science will tremble. Why do you tempt God? You don't know what you are doing.

Amazing how the foolish unbelievers give God credit for evil...and refuse to accept that He sent Christ to give eternal LIFE.
