I had a c-section 4 weeks ago and have been having problems with my left foot ever since. At first, the foot was just numb. I got up and was walking within the first 18 hours after surgery, but for the first week or so, I was slow to regain feeling in that foot.

Now the numbness is nearly gone (still some left behind my knee and in my first 3 toes), but it's been replaced with excruciating pain... I suspect nerve damage.

It alternates between burning/frostbite, and even the skin is sensitive to a fan blowing in the room. It's like constant electrocution and I'm very limited in what activities I can do.

Should I seek a neurologist or is this possibly sciatic nerve pain that a chiropractor could help with? Anyone who's dealt with this before, please share your experience with me. Were you able to solve the problem?

I would see a neurologist. Both of my big toes were numb after giving birth to my 1st, I would also get that cold sensation in them as well. I went to see a neurologist and it turned out to be nothing and went away on its own after 3-4 months, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. It could be nerve damage and you should have it looked at right away.

I would see a neurologist, but then again, only 4 weeks have passed.

I had carpal tunnel VERY BAD....due to swelling, the nerve was compressed. It hurt me for 2 MONTHS after my cesarean.

Feet swell a lot too, so it could still be a transient problem that will go away eventually. Better to be safe though. At least call the obgyn.

You'll want to deal with the hospital if it turns out the anesthesiologist caused nerve damage. It does happen.

My gut tells me that your pain will subside in a couple months.

Acupuncture, which involves inserting thin needles into various points on your body, may reduce peripheral neuropathy symptoms.
