There are empty churches in every American city. There is one for sale near my house many Wiccans are thinking of buying.

It depends on the message being preached.

Most churches in Europe stopped preaching the truth hundreds of years ago.

Persecution of Bible believing Christians led most of them to leave Europe and come to America duing the 17th and 18th centuries so that they could worship God without having the state tell them how.

Therefore what's left in European churches today are mostly religionists who are not genunie Bible believing Christians.

I was raised in a Lutheran Church in Chicago and as of when I grew up, it had already stopped preaching the truth. Attendence at that church was 12 to 15 hundred each Sunday when I was a kid.

Not bad for a church which claimed 3,300 members.

In 1972 I decided officially to leave the Lutheran church and I joined an evangelical Bible believing church and when I joined I found I was the 47th member.

Yet that church had attendence of about 100 to 125 each Sunday.

In the last 30 years, my former college church built a new building and has purchased about 75 acres to build again. The last time I was there attendence was around 1500 or so per weekend and was the 2nd largest church in its town.

In the last 30 years, my former Lutheran church was remodeled to make the sanctuary SMALLER! Attendence today is less than 300 per weekend.

Something to think about.

It's interesting that a year or so ago an American preacher came over to Lundwood in Barnsley and took over a failing church - and the local village church has an American lay reader who has been here a decade or more. Did they come over because they thought things were in bad shape over the pond? On the other hand I know preachers here who would do anything to set up & evangelise in the USA.

The Word of God tells us that in the last days there will be a great falling away. Its already happening not only around the world but right here in America. Many people are putting God on the shelf. The worse is still to come and we, as Christians need to continuall pray and intercede faithfully. We're living in the last days. Read Matthew 24:

It may have to do the number and density of the different cultures that are found in Europe. Europeans routinely encounter people who do things in different ways and who have different beliefs. Thus, Europeans tend to learn to be more flexible and open minded in their way of thinking.

In the US, however, the culture is a bit more monolithic, especially in the "Bible Belt" part of the US. There, people are much more likely to be completely surrounded by other people who think and act like they do. So, they very rarely have to compare their own ideas with those of other people. Also, being surrounded by people that think alike tends to produce a social reinforcement of a persons ingrained ideals, which can make it very hard for them to give any serious weight to the beliefs of "outsiders".

Also, in the Southern United States, there are lots of fairly poor, isolated communities. People that were raised in communities like this tended to receive poor educations. Thus, they are very ill-equipped for any sort of logical reasoning.

I suspect if you searched for pockets of isolated, poorly educated people in Europe, you would find that people living in those communities have a tendency to be much more religious than other Europeans.

Europeans have accepted multiculturalism, which means Islam will soon dominate Europe. The Western world is dying and its ignorant people are dancing in the streets. You know a nation is dead when its own people declare other cultures and nations superior.

Europeans are too happy with their lives. Long vacation time, good benefit. They also do not have that many enemies, and do no mind other people's business.

A general lack of the Holy Spirit. No fire in the soul. One of the reasons America is so blessed.
