It depends on what type of lens you are using. If it's not a disposable and it didn't fall someplace filthy, just clean it (using whatever cleaning method you usually use) and put it back in.
If it is a disposable, it's probably not worth cleaning. Just get another one out of the box.

If you drop them in the sink, but they don't go down the drain, rinse them off with saline and then used daily cleaner on them. I would let them soak for awhile before putting them back in, unless you really just have to put them in.
If they went down the drain, they're just lost. Sorry about that.

You're supposed to throw it away, but you can wash it off VERY good with contact lens cleaner and it should be fine.

Usually there's a spare one in the box, isn't there? Aww I just had an image of some poor bloke dropping his contact lense. Aww I feel sorry for you now :(

this is common what i do is just rewash them with the sulution stuff if the contax is broken though you need too get a new pair dont try putting it back in i did it an it wasnt pretty i had too go too the doctors too get it out. best of luck
