'Split a piece of wood and I am there, turn over a stone and you will find me.'

This phrase was mentioned in the film 'Stigmata' and was said to be the words of Jesus. Does anyone know if the phrase appears in the bible anywhere? Or anything else about it?

Cheers for your help.

It's not in the Bible. "Stigmata" is not a Christian film, so there's your clue!

EDIT: Quella Bella, NONE of those sources are divinely inspired. They contain too many errors. The asker wanted to know whether these words are in the Bible. The only correct answer is "NO."

It is primarily from the Gospel of Thomas, but the main message of the Kingdom being within you is in also in Luke. Some of the words from the movie can be found in Gospel of Thomas verses 3 and 77 (marked below with the exact words from Jesus). We were unable to find the line "not in a mansion/building of wood and stone," however, the idea might be alluded to in Gospel of Thomas verses 6 and 14 (marked below with the exact words from Jesus), combined with a phrase in Acts 7:48, where it says, "the Most High does not dwell in houses made with hands," and also with this from Luke 17:21 (Pharisees are asking when the Kingdom of God will come..) "Neither shall they say, lo here or lo there for, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you."

Here are the lines from the movie Stigmata:

"The Kingdom of God is inside you and all around you,
Not in a mansion of wood and stone.
Split a piece of wood and God is there,
Lift a stone and you will find God."

I read the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Nag Hammdi Library Gospels and other ancient Gospels conveniently left out of the New Testament. And thats when I found it. The quote from Jesus that did it for me. When Jesus knew He would be killed, His diciples were weary and inquiring how they would worship Him after He was gone. He said,

"You need not erect houses of wood and stone to seek me. Instead, split a piece of wood and you will find me...turn over a stone and I will be there."

under a stone means in a grave, in wood means in living things since wood lives as opposed to stone. so you find it in living and in dead things.
that is what i recognise.
