I am currently a corpsman which I am happy with but if I could become a mass communication specialists I think it would work out better for me.

as a male, the chances of you being able to swap out HM with MC is about NIL. HM is undermanned, MC is overmanned.
They will only allow you to change ratings if you choose one from the list THEY have at In Processing, or if you are found otherwise not Qual'd for the one you have now.

This is true once again. Just go as a corpsman you will be better off in the future.

it is true however being an HM you have a variety of duty stations all over the globe not just ships but hospitals, tours with the devil dogs, squadrons, shore bases, and all ships need corpsman.
