Well if you read the book- at the beginning it talks about how it is a work of fiction. It states that there are three truths in the book- everything else is fiction- those three things are the descriptions of the art work, the exsistence of the Opus Dei and the Exsitence of the Priory of Sion. The author makes it very clear that everything else is fiction. There are a few things in there that I have believed, and I believed prior to reading the book, but there is not a whole lot. I believe that the bible has been changed over the years and that many of the precious truths have been lost. I also believe that Jesus was married and that there is proof of that in the bible. I don't believe that he had children. I do believe that he was married to Mary Magdeline as well. Those are the only things in the book that even hold any shred of truth, although to the author, those are pretty much fiction as well.

The Da Vinci Code is a clever mixture of truth and fiction. The truth is that the Bible did not descend from heaven on a cloud. It is a collection of books written by faithful men trying to understand how God is working in the world. The early Church selected books that were inspired and weeded out books with errors and personal opinions.

There have been many books written to refute the many false claims in DVC (see links below to some websites with refutations). For example, we know that Jesus was not married, and that he didn't have a sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene. We know that he did not appoint Mary Magdalene to lead the Church--he appointed Peter. The claims about Mary Magdalene are based on gnostic writings that were rejected by the early Church as unhistorical.

Yes, some. The pictures shown, especially the Last Supper, are indeed the way they are described. The buildings are really there. The symbols exist. Opus Dei is real, the historical stuff is basically true. What is fiction is the story around them.

And this leads to the question of how to interpret the symbols that exist. Is Dan Brown right that Magdalene was Jesus' wife? How would we find proof, if it was so? Are there other reasonable interpretations possible? The lead character was described as an expert on symbols, but he was a fictional character. What do real experts say?

It's very possible that Da Vinci believed all that stuff in the book. But does that mean it's true, just because Da Vinci believed it? Of course not! And the book is fiction, so the whole adventure thing isn't true, of course.

The movie is fiction, that's true, but that does not imply everything in it is fiction. Da Vinci may actually have believed that Mary Magdeline was Jesus' wife.

But so what? Da Vinci had no more insight into that than we do today.

Yes. Da Vinci painted The Last Supper. That's about it.

The part about Mary and Jesus having a kid no--hasn't been proven-- but the rest is somewhat true. Dan Brown mixed facts in his fiction mystery book. I found it interesting.
I found the thought of woman having been the ones to "invent" the religion through pagan practices interesting too u might want to look into that.
I read a book by a college prodessor called the Truth and Myths of The Di Vinchi Code. It tells u the fast and tells u the fiction based content. The Professor mentioned the woman pagan connection is true. I can't rememer his name but if I did I would give it to u.

The Da Vinci Code is more like another possibilty. The bible and jesus and all that happened so long ago no one knows what happened. there's only speculation. The only answer that comes from your question is well more questions. why is mary considered a whore? why is it impossible for jesus to have a sex drive? You can't get a straight religous answer it's about faith not reality.

Well go read Holy Blood, Holy Grail which is a non-fiction book on the same subject. Then look at some of the stuff that refutes it. All in all it is a very weak case, but there is some evidence for it.
