I found the Amputation Diet page, and it lists weight loss based on having one arm amputated as "10-25 lbs (way too permanent)" - it's a funny site, and there are other numbers for haircuts, clipping nails, etc., as well as other 'fad diets' - none of which would be recommended, but they're interesting to read.

It's not an actual diet, and no one (especially not me) would recommend such a thing for weight loss. It's just a rough estimate, but you get a ballpark figure that way.

When I did a web search for 'average arm weighs' and 'average arm weight,' I found data that ranged from 5 pounds to 25 pounds. Perhaps these are personal estimates from the website owners, but some are doctor sites, some are health sites, and some are martial arts sites.

For a 180-lb man, an arm would weigh (typically) between 8.5 and 9 lbs. For reference, an entire leg taken off right at the pelvis would weigh a little over 34 lbs, and a head about 10 lbs.

Since you're probably not exactly 180 lbs, you'll have to scale to get an idea of how much your arm weighs. But it would probably be somewhat proportionate.
