I have been trying to lose weight for a while, but never really stuck with it. This time, however, I am determined! I have, for the past 4 days been eating between 1200-1500 calories a day. But, I just want to make sure, that its okay to be incorporating meat, and sweets that are hight in calories, but I'm still sticking to 1200-1500m calories daily. Im female 5' 5", 152 pounds. Thanks for your help.

the question you need to ask yourself is...

"do i want to only lose weight or do i want to be healthy?"

You technically could but you probably will end up unsatisfied since most high calorie foods are dense and have lots ofsugar, which won't fill you up very well so you'll be hungry again after a little while. Also, your portions will have to be very small and that can be frustrating. It probably isnt the best idea since you arent getting all the nutrients you need and are living off of junk food, which is mostly empty calories. I would suggest eating meat from something like a george foreman grill and letting yourself have one junky food every day. That way when you are ready to stop dieting and increase your portions you will be able to without gaining weight and eating a ton of junk food again.

Good luck!

Hi you CAN do that but it is not at all healthy, you are not getting the nutrition your body needs.

I use Sparkpeople.com.
Its a free website that allows you to keep a record of your weight, food intake and exercise. It's really great, they also have meal plans that you can follow. I don't follow the meal plans, but I always try and stay within my calories goal at the end of the day.

I have been on there for about two weeks and have already lost 10 lbs!

I plan to lose 2lbs a week. My goal is to lose 40lbs by March 2008. Well, now 30lbs since I have already lost 10! :-)

Good Luck with you weight loss goals.

I hope this helps!

Also when trying to lose weight the best advice I was given (aside from joining Sparkpeople) was always give yourself an "off" day once a week. Mine is always on the weekend (since I usually eat out then). Don't go overboard because the scale doesn't lie. But we all deserve an "off" day, just restrain yourself just enough to enjoy it, but make sure you get right back on track the very next day.

The trick will be getting balanced nutrition. Take your 1200-1500 calories, and subtract all the calories you'll be eating in meat and sweets. What's left? ALL of your other nutrition needs have to come out of what's left.

You can diet and eat high-calorie foods, but those high-calorie foods must be used sparingly. You want just a little treat to help you stay on your diet, no more than that.

Calories are calories but I would try to cut out the sweets if you really want to lose weight. Every now and then is one thing but every day, when you are trying to lose weight is too much. Try to eat fruit, it has natural sugars.

Technically, It IS possible to lose weight while still eating foods that are high in fat or sugar. The problem that lies within is that foods that are higher in fat are always higher in calories that foods that are high in carbohydrates or protein. One gram of fat contains 9 calories, as opposed to a gram of protein, which has only 4 calories. This means that you can eat TWICE as much of the foods that are low in fat and high in protein as you can the foods that are high in fat. Conversely, it means you can only eat about half as much of the fatty foods to satisfy your calorie needs. This would leave you much less satiated, or full, promoting the tendency to overeat or binge it.

See the link below for a detailed explanation of how sugar makes you gain fat.

On top of these reasons, foods that are high in fat or sugar usually do not contain other nutrients and vitamins that your body needs to stay healthy. They raise your cholesterol levels, promote arteriosclerosis as well as other forms of heart disease and have been proven to cause type II diabetes.

Its not really about the calories, it's about what you eat and when you eat it. Hear are some tips, it fruit in the morning but drink before you eat anything at all, if you don't the water or juice will delude the nutrition. Then eat something healthy for lunch, something meaty for dinner and no veggies at night.

So why not go all the way and eat healthier too. Why do you want to eat sweets. I am not saying to cut them out but eat them infrequently. Chicken is a good meat to eat. Stay with the lean meats and lots of veggies. Salads are great with chicken. Exercise, start out by walking. Drink lots of water, suppresses the appetite and keeps you hydrated. Remember, that the carbohydrates in sweets and other junk turns into glucose in your body. If you body can't use it immediately, it is stored as fat so watch the carb intake.

Oh....i get what you are saying! You are basically eating food with a lot of calories, but in a smaller portion. I would just eat healthier and little portions.
ex. for breakfast: one egg and some strawberries
for lunch: stick to salads(you can put whatever you want in them!)
for dinner: treat yourself to something hardy but healthy like: fish, sandwhiches, soups, tacos, ect.

To burn a little extra: walk around a field two times(once every day)
HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!
