Me and my boyfiend live 3 hours away from each other but we email and chat and everything, and its working out great. We even talk on the phone, but its long distance so we have to like spend $10 everytime we talk. I was just wondering if there was a phone number I could use that would let me talk not him without costing. Like if there was some kinda of company I could call or anything.

(We live in different cities)

thanks everyone<3 =]

Maybe you could both get cheap cell phones on the same network. Most companies have free calling within a network, and a lot have plans for as cheap as $40 a month. If you can afford the $10 a phone call each time, it might be worth it to look into the cell phones.

Not sure of your age, but if you can't get your own cell, maybe ask your parents to add an extra line (which will be cheaper for you) and offer to pay the difference in the bill for your minutes. I did that when I couldn't get my own.

Prepaid phones, anyone can buy. It will be a little more expensive, but might be worth it too.

Phone companies have different rate offers depending on your needs. Check with the phone companies to see which one gives you a best rate for your minute.

Unfortunately there is no free number, you need to find cheap, not free, so I suggest you a) buy those long distance cards they sell everywhere, they last quite a bit, I made a phonecall from Mexico to Manchester, UK, 1 hour for $10 dollars, that was quite a deal considering the rates in Mexico; b) check on skype, I've never used it, so I honestly don't know how it works, but give it a shot.

Good luck.

i use frontier. unlimited long distance. my bills are like 50 bucks a month. my boyfriend lives 3.5 hours away. so i know what you mean. in the beginning it was pretty expensive. but now it's toned down, especially since he's thinking of putting me on his cell phone plan so that we could talk for free.

if you get a cell phone, you can call for free at certain hours of the day -- like after 9 p.m. or sometimes 5 p.m., depending upon the plan.

there is also a free internet phone service called SKYPE, you can do a search for it. if you both get it, you can talk in real time online.

take care.

Contact your local telephone company and inform them of your situation. They may be able to set you up with a monthly package like 250 minutes for $25 for example. They probably have several different options for you to choose from. Good luck!

My boyfriend lived in Athens, Greece for 2 years and I lived in Illinois..we used Simplink. www.simplink.com has rates for all over (the States too). He and I talked on our landphones and it was only 6 cents per minute! Try that.
