my dad has been put on a new diet for the severe migraines he is getting and alot of the things he would usually eat have been excluded one of these is tomatoes, so anything like spag bol, lasagne, pizza etc he cannot have. we have tried really hard to adjust our foods and find alternatives but we desperately need some help in finding something different to use on a pizza instead of tomatoes.

try pesto, or olive oil and parmesan cheese

You can experiment with your favourite sauces, or anything that you think would go well with pizza, depending on the toppings. The most popular sauces other than the tomato would be BBQ, garlic or alfredo.

Hey, who knows, perhaps you can create a diffferent flavour while experimenting with the sauces! ((:

If nothing works, you might want to try making vegetarian pizza without the sauce... maybe. But the better way is to use a base sauce and maybe add some spices that your dad can have.

We are a household on restricted diet also. No salyciates for an ADD child. Our having something different to him is just not fair all the time. I am going to try a sauce made of pears, beetroot and carrots with garlic and other allowed herbs cooked and put through the blender.

Tomato Free Pizza Sauce

2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. oregano powder
3 drops anise flavoring
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried thyme
2 tsp dried parsley
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup water

Working in a small bowl mix dry spices and powders. Stir in anise flavoring, stir in 1/2 cup water. Spread a THIN layer on the pizza dough, concentrating it slightly around the edge, then add your favorite toppings and bake as usual. This sauce is highly flavored so a little goes a long way.

I added a link that might help you fix other dishes for him as well =)

In Nice, France they make a pizza topped with caramelized onions, olives, anchovies and pine nuts. This is one of my favorites. You slice 2 or 3 onions into thin rings and saute in olive oil over medium heat on stove, stirring occasionally, until they are nicely browned. This takes maybe 30 or 40 minutes. Top the pizza with the onions, anchovies, olives and pine nuts. Or leave out whatever ingredients you don't like or don't have.
Another good pizza is onion focaccia. Topped with thinly sliced onion rings (not pre-sauteed), lots of olive oil and some salt. You can also kneed herbs, like thyme, into the dough.
White clam sauce is another possibility. If making from scratch, try canned clams drained of juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs (like oregano, marjoram, parsley, rosemary, thyme, etc.) and a little grated parmigiana or Romano cheese.

Just spread extra virgin olive oil on the crust OR a white sauce---

INGREDIENTS:
1/3 cup flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp onion powder
2 cups milk
1 Tbsp margarine or butter

PREPARATION:
Place flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and onion powder in a small saucepan. Stir to equally distribute. Slowly whisk in the milk until no lumps remain. Bring to a boil while stirring to prevent lumps. When mixture thickens, add margarine and stir until melted.

Yield: 2 cups

Well you could use a different sauce like an alfredo sauce,or BBQ sauce. Also, sometimes with chicken people put BBQ sauce, or Buffalo sauce and blue cheese. White pizzas just use olive oil. There are TONS of recipes- try to search somewhere like Food Network for white pizza, and you'll get tons of answers.

Roast your red bell peppers in the oven, along with a few cloves of garlic. Peel the skin off of the peppers, add them, with the garlic, to some sauteed onions. Puree in a blender, adding just a touch of olive oil. Salt and Pepper to taste.

My dad used to make homemade pizzas with canned tomato soup. I don't know if it would be different than actual tomato puree or whatever. You could also make white pizzas, with ricotta cheese as the 'sauce' topped with the regular cheese and broccoli.
