No one knows. Thata why ppl call it a big mystery in life. But God already knew that satan would get banished, so he gave satan a chance to change. In the world, if God had never made satan, there would be no sin. In other words, everyone and everything would be perfect. God didnt want everything to be perfect so He gave us the power of free will, which is to do whatever we want to do. There would be no point in creating a world that would be perfect. Because, if there was a perfect world, it didn't need a ruler. So....thats why he created Satan. Great question.

Nice question! I like to see people you think for themselves!
Our present concept of Satan (the almighty source of evil) is different from the Old Testament version. Satan and Devil original meanings translated loosely to "one how obstructs your path" God sent satans to do his biddings many times in the original OT, the book of Job is the most widely known. What we deal with now are translated versions rewritten by monks over the centuries to fit the concepts of our New Testament. Thus God wasn't disingenuous, he used Satan just as he used all of the subjects in the heavenly kingdom. The separation of the two was a move to justify separating the human race, politically, racially, sexually, morally, etc all of the reasons we have wars and arguments to this day (the religious wars are fought by religions that originated from the same source - Abraham)

I'll tell you what I would say if I actually believed that story.
In order for existence to be, god needed certain laws to be put in place. One of those laws is the law of opposites. When he created that law an opposite to himself was created which was evil. This evil was what tempted satan. He basically sacrificed satan in order for his creation to exist. So satan was a victim of god. But satan isn't the only one tempted by this law. Humans do evil on a daily basis, do they really know what they are doing? You don't need god or religion to determine that most humans that would be considered evil have had bad childhoods, probably abused, neglected, etc.. So are they really to blame?
This is of course if that whole story was true which I think was not.

Satan was previously the head of all the angels named Lucifer. God gave us free will and that included Lucifer. Lucifer chose to turn against God. He thought that he could be as powerful as God and was cast out of Heaven. God loves us whether we choose to love Him or turn against Him. We all have that decision and we all have a chance to choose to live by God's Word. It's never too late. I guess that Satan no longer has that chance from what I've studied in the Bible but I'm not sure why, possibly because he steals souls from God and continues to fight Him.

God knows everything. He wasn't really friends with satan, that's really not the right word... satan was an angel, who's only purpose was to serve and bring glory God, and when he began thinking he was too good and pretty for that, God cast him out of heaven.

God loves everyone. He even tells you to "love you neighbor as yourself". God does not always like your actions, but God will always love you.
Even if you are Satan, God will still love you. Satan was not made with the intention that he would rebel. However, God gives us Free Will so that we can make our own choices, learn from our own mistakes, and choose our own path.
Satan chose to rebel because he had Free Will. God still loved him, so God may have hoped that Satan would change his ways or not rebel.
Either way, the choice to love or the choice to rebel was Satan's to make, not God's. God gives all of us the choice. Which way we choose is up to us.

That is an excellent question. God would of had to of known that Satan would rebel and ultimatly create the fall of man otherwise why would he create beings CAPABLE of sin? I would like to say that it is because God cares alot about freewill and our ability to choose him, but at the same time it is difficult to understand why if he loves us so much that we are subject to hell and eternal damn nation!

Who said God isn't still friends with Satan? After all, God loves everyone. He is love. He loves Satan too. In fact, I think he still sends letters to Satan every Halloween and a Christmas present too.
For further evidence look at the fact that he kills people off on a regular basis but never touches Satan. Obviously he loves Satan more than he loves homosexuals living in New Orleans. Boy this God character is one fantastic role model.

way back , God and his Angels were around.... Satan was one of the angels... only he didn't like how God was doing things and he wanted to 'take over' and do things HIS way... he even talked a batch of other angels into his rebellion.... Satan wanted to be as 'big' and powerful as God was... only he couldn't be, because he was 'just' an angel... but he tried... and when God finally tired of Satan's antics, he banished Satan and the gang from Heaven..... which really ticked off Satan.... and in his anger, he lit out for God's new favorites, MAN.... and has been causing them trouble ever since.... and that's going to end one day, too..... (all according to religion)....
and there you have another reason that I personally cannot buy into the 'all-knowing, all-powerful, pre-determinate GOD"..... if he KNEW Satan was gonna be trouble, why allow him in the first place?... just like in the Garden of Eden... if God wanted Man to worship and adore Him forever, why plant the danged Tree there to start with, if he KNEW that man would fail the test?.... DUH???......

Great question.
I guess God felt a little guilty about creating him in the first place, seeing as that creation would result in sin and eventually an eternal torture for Satan and countless humans.
