Take it to the vet immediately. It sounds like it has an eye infection, and it's going to need antibiotics, which can only be prescribed by a professional. I've had a lot of kittens with this problem, and if you don't get it cleared up, then the cat could end up blind in one or both eyes.

You didn't say how old these kittens are, but I'm guessing that they are 2+ weeks old. I'm also guessing that this may be the runt, and therefore, a little slower than the others in this eye-opening process. Rather than q-tips, try soaking cotton balls with warm (NOT hot) water, and gently wiping any/all mucus and sticky stuff from the kittens eyes. The mother cat should also be cleaning and licking at this eye area. Try doing this every 2 to 3 hours for a day and see if this helps. If not, you may need to take this kitten to your vet, as it could have been born with a birth defect such as eyes never completely separated, and your vet will have to surgically separate them. Hope this is not the case, and this is rare, but it does happen sometimes. And, even if the kitten does begin to open his/her eyes, watch for any more mucus and/or crusting around the eyes. If it is still there, this kitten needs to be seen by your vet as it may have either an eye infection or an upper respirarory infection. Don't wait for more than 1-2 days, as kittens can be very fragile. Best of luck to you with this little one--hope the eyes will be OK.

You are right to worry; the goopy eyes will indeed keep your kitten from opening it's eyes up. It does happen sometimes with the little ones. This might result in a (more serious) eyeinfection if you don't act quick.
(If it were just late to open it's eyes, it still wouldn't be good if it's eyes are goopy/crusty.)
You have done the right thing with the (boiled and cooled down?) warm water and q-tips (cotton balls would probably have been easier to use and softer), so if that's not working, get some help - a trip to the vet is the right choice right now.
Do keep on cleaning until you can get there though.
Good luck!

Sometimes kittens eyes get infected right when it's time to open. You must use Tobrex eye drops on him 3 times a day, and perhaps he may need some other medication too, because these infections are often general (not just on the eyes). If he gets treatment, he'll be fine. If not, he may die or lose the eyes (as they will get infected and then start falling out). So take the kitty to a vet and use the eye drops.

Sounds like it has an infection in it's eyes take it to the vet. But continue to keep it's eyes clean. It needs an antibiotic for it's eyes it's kind of like how pink eye makes your eye not open but it will get worse if not treated.

Maybe you should take it to a vet to see what he/she suggests. Seems like the most common sense thing to do.
