So people say that the Holy Ghost and miracles and stuff were for the Bible days not now. But if only parts of the Bible pertain to this modern day, why do we believe any of it?? Don't get me wrong I'm Apostolic and a FULL believe in God and the Bible. I believe in the Holy Ghost because I received it nearly 4 years ago and it's the best thing that EVER happened!! I've witnessed miracles myself, so know one can convince me that God doesn't do them, but I was wondering why people only believe parts of the Bible these days.

It's hard to believe the whole Bible, because it contradicts itself and contains a lot of vile things that people would rather not acknowledge.

"So people say that the Holy Ghost and miracles and stuff were for the Bible days not now"

It's true, there are people who say this. There are a lot of people who don't.

"But if only parts of the Bible pertain to this modern day, why do we believe any of it?"

That depends. If the bible itself gives reason why some things don't "pertain to this modern day", then there may be good reason to believe it. For example, the decision of the 12 in Jerusalem (based on Peter's prompting) that only 4 points of the Law needed to be followed by Gentiles. Otherwise, I would say someone has just decided to choose to believe the parts that they don't mind believing. I call this "cafeteria Christianity".

The End of the Church Age is depicted in Daniel chapters 11-12. Joel chapter 2 is the fulfillment of a prophecy found in Acts Chapter 2. It is by faith that Christians believe Hebrews 11. Our hope is in the Eternal! Corinthians 15:51-58 Ephesians Chapters 5, your Armour is found in Ephesian 6.

Most people, even so-called Christians are uncomfortable with the bible. So they pick and choose the parts that sound good and discard the rest. Even today's pastors do this. We now have feel-good ministries instead of truth ministries.

The Holy Spirit is alive and well. The problem is our lack of faith. Without faith the Holy Spirit goes on vacation.

There has been a discussion/arguments for hundreds of years about this stuff.

Some Christians simply believe that with the completion of the canon of the bible and the passing of the original apostles, God no longer operates that way.

I am like you and I thank God for the gifts of the spirit, etc - but some Christians would say that tongues, etc. is "of the devil".

Usually does little good to try to convince them otherwise.

God bless

As a member of the church that Jesus built through being forgiven of my sins and living free from sin, I know that the Bible is alive and well and everything in it is valid

EXCEPT,

for lack of better words, the observance of the rituals of the Law, which only applied to the Jews and their proselytes.

I may not really be able to explain what I have been trying to type to you, but at least I have given it a shot.

SOME PEOPLE JUST HAVE NOT HAD THE RIGHT TEACHING.

WE MUST RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH..THEY DO NOT TAKE THE TIME TO STUDY TO SHOW THEIR SELVES APPROVED UNTO GOD.

WHEN YOU LISTEN TO SOME OF THESE MODERN DAY PREACHERS IT MAKES YOUR HEAD SPIN WITH CONFUSION.....YOU CAN'T REALLY FAULT SOME PEOPLE AS THEY HAVE NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO HEAR THE TRUTH.

NOT ONLY THAT, SOME OF THESE SO CALLED BIBLES ARE NOT THE REAL BIBLE...JUST STORIES ABOUT THE BIBLE.

YOU ARE VERY FORTUNATE YOU HAVE THE HOLY GHOST TO LEAD AND GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH.

In the coming months and years, you will see signs and miracles from heaven. The times we are living in are Bible Times, that would be the last book in the Bible. We are in tribulation, and those who do not see this should check their vision.

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

The Bible in it's entireity is the truth. People tend to only practice parts. I don't think it's because they don't believe they just don't want a full commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. It's hard to give up the way's of the world to follow Christ. It is a sacrafice, comparably small compared to the one he made.

People are sinful, selfish and stupid. We are born into this sinful nature and therefore we are born into selfishness. The world is full of the 'me, me, me' attitude. Everything is about us. What WE want, what WE need, what WE think that WE should have. It's very uncomfortable for most people to give up the 'ME' and I think that's why most people are not open to the reality that GOD is real. for example: If I believed that God is real then I would have to be humble before him and it would no longer be about 'me'. My life would not be mine it would be his. I would not live for my personal pleasure or gain I would live a live to glorify God.
If you prove it to them, they would believe. Thus we have the Bible full of miracles and stories of his faithfulness. If we needed proof to believe, if we needed to see with our own eyes, then we have no faith.

i think they are afraid. Some are afraid of excesses; some are afraid they won't get to see miracles. Some are just too western and logical and so want to reason away the bible texts that say otherwise! It bugs me when they use 1 Cor 13....
