Yes, the electric and acoustic chords are identical. The difference between acoustic and electric is the tone quality, and the type of music most musicians choose to play on each.

The bass, although tuned the same as the lower strings of a guitar, is really a completely different beast. One almost NEVER plays chords on a bass (although playing simultaneous duplets is not unheard of). Instead, one plays individual notes in a pattern that is related to the chord structure of the song. Learning guitar first will teach you the chord theory needed to later master the bass.

1) The chords are the exact same. Electric and acoustic guitars are played the exact same, but with different sounds, and obviously no distortion on an acoustic.

2) I see this question more than any other bass question. Bass guitars are played differently than normal guitars. you can pick or use your fingers. bass is usually used as a rhythym instrument. the sound is lower. the frets are bigger, therefore the neck is longer, making it harder to play. plus, not all basses are 4 string. i have seen 4, 5, 6, 7, and 12 string basses. its your opinion whether bass is easier, but to me its not any easier than guitar.

The chords used on an acoustic are identical to those on the electric guitar. The differences are tonal projection, amplification, and ease of forming those chords.

The bass guitar is not strummed as an acoustic or an electric is; it is plucked primarily. The player would form notes that he or she knows is part of certain chords, but the chords themselves are not shaped because of the string gauge.

I always recommend that a new student begin on an acoustic guitar because it builds discipline, strength in the fingers and wrist, and quickly develops the needful calluses that a player must possess.

Yes, the chords are the same. Bass is completely different - you play single notes instead of chords, but you need to learn chord structure. Basic bass is easy to learn - but becoming good takes a lot of work.
