I was awarded this money due to a lawsuit that was filed years ago. Once I was given this money, my parents plan was to buy a house, but the problem is: I do not want to live with them, I want my own space. My mother suggested that we can buy a house (2 family) which meant I would have my own space (Its 5 of us parents, 1 brother and 1 sister). What do you guys think I should do? Get my own place or move in a house with them? In addition, this money was awarded almost 5 years ago and since then we still have not done anything? I feel this big guilt!!!

It is your money you should do what you want with it. Dont feel guilty for wanting your own life. They are out of line for expecting you to pay for their house.

Do what is more comfortable with you, if its a lot of money why not buying two houses one for them and one for you. Talk to them explain to them what you want to do, what are your ideas and I think that they will understand you, the money is yours, do what is best for you, but don't forget about your family.

it's your money, and perhaps you could remind your parents. is the check coming in your name?

if they had to pay attorney fees or whatever, pay them back...

if you want to be generous and let them have some of it, it's up to you.

if you want to live on your own do it!

doing things for others because we feel some odd guilt is crazy... the first person you need to take care of and consider is YOU.

"guilt" is for criminals and i don't suppose you are one?
