The top 1/4 of my living room window is stained glass. I don't want to cover it up so I put blinds starting below the stained glass and have a wide tension rod with a very small valance to cover the top of the blinds. I want to remove the blinds and put up sheers with curtain panels along the side starting 1/4 of the way down the window so the stained glass still shows. Are there any decorators out there that have seen sheers and curtains that are hung lower on the window?? Does anyone else have any ideas? It is the picture window of my house and faces the front. I have to be able to cover it somehow

The blind companies make pleated shades that instead of raising from bottom to top, do the reverse, they lower from the top to the bottom. They definitely work. But what you already have done is done all of the time on the decorator shows. Love that look!

I did not want to be raising and lowering blinds on windows facing nearby neighbors or facing street, so I installed half curtains across the lower half and used various thin curtains, shears and split reed roller blinds from top to bottom. The combination lets in quite as much light as I want and because I looked in from outside with lights on, I know that modesty is preserved. Top edge of half curtains is high enough that person in next door window can't see below shoulders while we can see out.

This sounds nice. Only can you put the sheers flush with the bottom of the window and not leave any wall space. The look needs to be un broken. I have seen it and I like the look.

not sure how the sheers would be hung- but have you looked into the blinds that pull up from the bottom? so you can have privacy starting from the bottom where you are walking around? just a thought!!

thats what we did with our windows, we have the rectangles with the strange crescent that wont fit blinds, so we just put the blinds on the rectangles, it looks fine, we just put the sheers over the blinds for a bit of added privacy.
