I don't mean to seem like I'm questioning God, but I see people get blessings I don't think they really deserve while my parents and I are suffering and going w/o. My parents can't make ends meet on their fixed income and I have seziures (which is part of the reason I live w/ them).
I guess I should say that other than the sezuires (which I'm on medication for) I do have my health. I also have small retirement and savings accounts. And I'm thinner than I've been in about 3 yrs. So I have that going for me.
I used to think if I managed my money well maybe God would give me more but that hasn't worked. My parents and I aren't selfish (well, my dad has his moments and I try very hard not to be selfish) so I don't see why we shouldn't get some more blessings. How can I get God to give them to us?

God's blessings are not limited to physical riches. God's richest blessings are spiritual!

You are missing the blessings that I see in your life.
1) you and your parents are alive
2) Your parents and you have "An income" where some homeless people dont
3) you have a roof over your head
4) You HAVE a retirement account
5) Your parents love you enough to take you in while you are having seizure and love you

God is putting you through a test. Praise him through the pain. Job in the bible lost his house, money, his children, and his health and he preaised god anyway for YEARS!!! When god saw that his faith could not be shaken or swayed by circumstances he blessed him with much more than he lost. When something goes wrong just know that once you get through the rough water only calm seas lie ahead. and dont try to put a time limit on god. he may not come when you want him to but he'll be there right on time.

Luxe.... Sounds to me like you have blessings all over the place!

Money is man's idea of being blessed.... while it helps, it isn't anything I'd rather replace the other Blessings God gives with.

When we speak of Blessings, quite often, it is answers to prayer we had made FOR SOMEONE ELSE. We get blessed by that happening! :) So, we will say we have been blessed....because, it IS a blessing to see God answer prayers. :)

What we do with the income we have is something well considered. You're going without? Without what? Food? Shelter? Clothing? Utilities? Transportation? Basic household needs? Health?

Anything else is "extras"...things we really don't need, but want for our "comfort" or "entertainment".

The times we have to go with the bare essentials, it is usually because we spent our money on something extravagant...or an unexpected expense, etc.,. "Robbing Peter to pay Paul", if you will :)

We've all been there, done that.

But I have seen people whom refuse to accept used goods offered to them when they need a refrigerator or washer, etc.,. and they go without out of stubborness or pride, yet, try to make it seem that God isn't supplying their "needs".

I don't know about you, but, a free or low cost washer or refrig is a BLESSING whether it be used or new!

Years ago, when my husband and I were together and the kids were young, because of my husband's drinking, we sometimes found ourselves homeless...having a tent or a station wagon or a place to park or set up camp was a BLESSING... Having a way to cook or to bathe or toilet facilities was a BLESSING.... no-one getting ill or letting our homelessness make us so unhappy that we weren't able to SEE the "blessings" was a BLESSING. lol

See what I mean?

Blessings are in the eyes of the beholder...I am blessed with having a room of my own after years of sleeping on the sofa, lol To many, having a room is expected. Not so for everyone.

I am thankful for having to experience all the hardships... I am stronger in my Faith and as a person because of it. :)

Peace be with you :)

Sorry to hear you feel a lack of enough money to survive.
But I don't understand your saying you see people getting blessings that you think they don't deserve, while you are going with out. Life as we know it and sometimes think of life
as not being fair. But pennys do not fall from heaven, So don't expect them to. In this real world money makes money, Other then working for it, sometimes we inherit some, if one gambles they win or loose. It is so true it takes alot of money to survive these days. I try to think on it as I must do my part,
as you say handle money properly, and have faith God will fill my needs not my wants. And I don't envy people who have more then I have. I count my blessings. C.S. Lewis quote,
"I have a need to pray, prayer changes me not God."
The Blessings already are, our salvation. Maybe if you try not to focas on money as your prime blessing or watch what others have that you don't. Or if you are healthy get a part time job or make money from a hobby. On this you have to live in the human element of cause and effect, Do to get.
Could even be baby sitting or house cleaning, or some thing you are gifted at. Good luck

Blessings are not often monetary ones.
Some of the best blessings I've been given in my lifetime are the people around me, good and bad. The good ones make me strive harder to achieve. The bad ones make me grateful for the good people in my life.

If you a looking for god to grant to you a windfall of money it will probably not happen. That's just not the way it works. I suggest that you ask for success or strength in a new venture. In my opinion that is how god works his miracles.
If money is an issue for your family then try and find a low investment business opportunity that could help you guys make more money. Although that isn't an option for everyone.

Perhaps there are opportunities closer to home that you have not explored. A blessing to ask for would be the insight to recognize them for what they are.

I realize that the seizures are a difficulty in maintaining a regular schedule in life. This makes your situation more difficult. Are you part of a support group? It might help to talk to people in your situation. Perhaps they have suggestions that you and your family have not explored. They could certainly give you some emotional support as well.

I certainly hope that you and your family find more blessings coming your way! Just remember they are not always as straight forward as we wished they would be.

I really dont understand this question. Why arent you blessed more?? I think the world is what you make of it. Instead of sitting around and feeling bad for yourself, go to school, get a better job (even with seziures, there are things you can do), stop whinning about your situation!! There are people in this world dying and suffering that have NO control of their situation. You live in America. You obviously can read and write. Get off your a** and get moving!!

I dont really do the god thing, but why would he bless someone that isnt making their life better for themselves without his input?

I know how you feel and I'm not going to preach to you and tell you how to feel or think.Only that I've been there myself. But only a little different circumstances.I wasn't quick or as smart and i was abused as a child and asked these same questions.Did you know that when you are at your weakest moments in life you will find that you were actually strong? When God seems to be testing you at every turn He is actually building good character in you,And when things are so bad for you ,you will find that you are a stronger person because of it.There are reasons we all suffer at different times in our lives then others. My Mom and Dad taught me that something good is going to come out of it.And it always works out in the end. It's good to ask questions instead of keeping it inside.Good for you.And remember to pray for strength and peace.God does not give us anything we can't handle.God Bless.

With all due respect, I think you are questioning God.

Have you placed your faith entirely in Him or in riches?

Here is the main question and I have some suggestions:
- Have you received salvation through Jesus Christ? Do you follow Him?
1. Shift your focus, read and study the Bible, see what Jesus says about being His follower, you have to love Him more than anything - more than family, money, stuff etc...
2. Does your family tithe? It is not a magic solution by which one gets something back from God, but it is a godly principle by which we should live. Are you blessing others when you can (even with your time as well as money).
3. Are you trusting in God to supply all of your needs? (not all of your wants). And are you thankful when He does supply your needs?

4. back to the basic question, have you received Jesus as Lord and Savior in your life and do you read and study the Bible & put God as #1?

Hope this helps. - Redeemed

I believe in reincarnation, and therefore karma. It explains why an innocent baby is born with something wrong with him.
Karma only happens in reincarnation. Sure when we intentionally do something to harm another, there may be consequences in this life, but that is not karma.
For example, say a person deliberately causes another to be unable to walk, they may be born with a leg disability in the next life. However that is his choice. Karma is something that teaches, not just does random harming.
I believe we choose the kind of life we will live in order to optimize what we need to learn. I struggle to make ends meet and sometimes am not successful. However, I still believe I should thank God for giving me the situation, and to help me see what I need learn from it. I also thank Him as I believe He will take care of me. I may not have things I want, but I always have what I need. If this is my karma, I strive to embrace it. I know this sounds a little odd, but I do believe spirituality tends to go against human nature.
Blessed Be

A few years ago when I was on a trip to Mexico, I truly saw people that were blessed. Their possessions lay in the corner of some rocks lined up around a perimeter with no roof. These people were very blessed. They were happy and thankful for the things they had. It made me feel ashamed and I remember that incident each time I hear someone grumbling about not having as much as some one else.

Yes. I pray to God all the time, and so far he has flatly refused to give me a job I'm unqualified for with a higher pay. He has also refused to give me a winning lottery ticket. What a bastard.

There was a flood once. The priest refused to evacuate, saying, God will save me. The flood waters rose higher, and some people came past in a row boat, saying Come with us! But the man kept praying, saying, God will save me. The waters rose higher until the man was floating up to his own ceiling, and a helicopter came past; it dropped down a rope ladder and urged the priest to come to safety, but the priest kept praying, saying, God will save me. At last the flood rose so high that the priest drowned.
In heaven, the priest confronted God angrily, saying, Why didn't you save me? God said, For Christ's sake, I sent you a helicopter, what more do you want?
