Seems like humans can live on one planet out of 1,000,000,000,000,000,000. Not to mention the vastness of empty space.

What makes people think all of existence is dedicated to human life?

Arrogance and ignorance are probably two main reasons.

Having a circumscribe view: being earth centric is what causes it. Much like the days when man thought the sun revolved around the earth, before our very eyes in this day and age, man is discovering the vastness of the creations in space. People living on the planet today are even unknowing of the fact there are continents on the other side of the world...and only in the developed countries where education is available to most, do people know about space discoveries... or even that the earth revolves around the sun not the other way around! The spread of space discoveries and educations will change man's ideas in time.

My father in law had his 80th birthday, to give an example, and I wished a happy 80th trip around the sun. He coughed! and then he very determinedly said to me "the sun comes up in the morning and the sun goes down at night, and THAT's it!"

So you see the fight is on... as we live through it to reconcile ingrained notions we can be excited to anticipate some really big advances in this brand new baby of a century. We can look at the historical struggles about thinks such as the world is flat, or that the sun just comes up or does it revolve and be more prepared for the uncovering of even more astounding truth.

As a side note, I don't believe science and religion have to be at odds except for hard headness and missing facts that will be one day resolved and these things will all come together to make perfect sense to a new generation kind of far off from now.

I have found that one of the greatest lessons in humility can be found in studying astronomy, and then taking that knowledge with me into an open field on a clear, moonless night.

I look up at the stars and recognize (as much as any human can) the enormous vastness of the universe and the infinitesimally minuscule nature of not only myself, but our entire planet. The universe was no more created for our use than we were created to feed bears, worms, or black holes.

In truth, our lives, our entire history, our place in the universe are devoid any meaning in the totality of all that is.

It is only the meaning that we create in our lives, our relationships, and on our little blue planet that make it worthwhile to us while we inhabit it.

Most people do not think that anything is more important then their own selfishness, regardless of how it affects the people and the planet they live on. It would make sense that they would assume that the entire universe was made just for them.

The universe was created to declare the glory of God. God wanted man to know how magnificent that He is - instead of man thinking man just evolved. Everything declares God. Some call it the fingerprint of God. The great Designer and the great Creator. Nothing was made without God.

All of existence is dedicated to God. It is all about God and not about humans. God loved us so much that He created earth and gave us dominion over the earth.

Despite our egos, the dominant life form on earth is not humans.
It's the phylum/subphylum Arthropoda Hexapoda.
Insects.
This may hold true in the rest of the universe.

Humans evolved to survive in the universe as it already existed, not the other way around (universe being created to suit humans).

They like to talk about how the earth was perfectly situated to support life. Well, c'mon, at least one planet out of trillions is bound to be suitable. If there wasn't one, THAT would be remarkable.

I guess not, since Earth is the only place we can live. We'd all die if we had to live on another planet... wrong atmosphere for breathing, temperatures so hot we would die immediately, or so cold we would freeze.

Perhaps the uni-verse is the begin, and not "the end".
Perhaps fear of the L also the "beginning", not the end.
Perhaps this gospel is the beginning of sorrows(laws).
Perhaps that gospel also goes ww, for compare-i-son.
Perhaps this gospel is about this God, not that God.
Perhaps that gospel is about that God, not this God.

E-Life of E-Salvation is thru Jesus-->Christ-->Godward.
Perhaps "Jesus" isn't "Christ", and "God" isn't a "man".
Perhaps it's "allegory" and "mystery" to solve "in time".

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

If anything, the conditions of the universe are best suited for the creation of black holes...
