be consistent.... which means, if you make a rule, don't bend it... ever. kids need rules and structure.

make sure your kids are on a schedule, and that you keep their schedule constant most days (sometimes we can't because of outings, etc). this means, consistent meal times, bed times, homework times.

do things with your children, and make special times as rewards for good behavior. it doesn't have to be costly... if they like to fish, take them fishing, or swimming, or for a picnic in the park, bake cookes and let them decorate if they like. you can also find a lot of free crafts ideas for kids on line... spend a few hours a week with them to let them know you are interested.

praise them when they do well.

listen to them. let them know if they have problems you are there. if you respect their feelings, they will respect yours, as well.

i hope you get good answers here. take care.

Jennifer, the best way is to put the problem into the hands of the Lord God, Jehovah. He can do miracles when we cannot do things to make them change their minds. But in the meantime, be firm with them and show them where they are going wrong and be a good role model to them and love them with all your heart.

Reward and punishment. Consistently reward for good behaviour and punish for bad and they will get the message.
