I had some discomfort with one of my testicles and so my doctor prescibed me an antibiotic "in case" there might be an infection. I don't have the discomfort anymore. I haven't began taking the antibiotic. I'm worried about taking it for no reason. What if one day I really do need an antibiotic to work, yet at that point it will no longer work in my body.

IF your physician gave it to you, then he/she felt it was necessary. Hope you feel better soon. :-)

Antibiotics should only be taken when it is indicated for a certain condition. Physicians do indicate on the prescription that the patient should take it "as needed".

Frankly, I wouldn't. If the problem has resolved on it's own. But be aware, you shouldn't take it later for something else either, do not try to self diagnose. If you aren't going to use the antibiotic as prescribed, then throw it away.
