you are not weak, nor are you cursed. It took me nearly 20 years to get past the depression I suffered with. Depression is due in part to a chemical imbalance in the brain, and in part to emotional issues that remain unresolved. Counselling and medications can help, but are not the whole answer, I found the answer that worked for me...it may work for you, check it out....

Depression is a bio-chemical issue. This means the problem comes from issues with your brain chemistry. There are several reasons that it happens, but it IS treatable and there are things you can do for yourself. You are NOT a "weak" person for having depression. You are like maaaaaaaany other people world wide that deal with this issue in varying degrees of severity every single day.

Things you can do in addition to what you've tried---Improve your diet. One of the main reasons depressives stay depressed is that they either don't eat at all or they eat CRAP when they are down... which only causes more problems. So eat a balance diet heavy in veggies and fruits (more nutrients in them than any other kinds of food) and take some good vitamin suppliments. Depressives tend to run extremely low in B Complex vitamins--essential to holding mood and mental accuity in place.

Secondly--exercise mentally. Learn your depressive triggers (they will be foods, thought patterns, places... sometimes even people or scents) and start behavior modification to start desensatizing those triggers. Get a hobby that gives you true joy and do it regularly! Don't let others judge you when they aren't the ones dealing with the issue.

Thirdly--get plenty of sunshine! Seasonal Anxiety Disorder (S.A.D.) is a form of depression that hits hardest when sunlight has been in short supply and can complicate things for depressives of all sorts. So see to it that you do some deep, slow breathing while out in the sunlight. Perhaps even take an out door Tai Chi or Yoga class. It will help you balance your energy and get your head on better in the long run because working the body is another key to a healthy mind.

Good luck!

No you are not weak. Perhaps more enlightened than most. Alot of people who suffer from depression know the true reality of life. Life is pretty miserable and most people live their lives blocking this fact out. I mean why dwell if you have the ability not too? I am against taking medication for depression...instead learn all about mind control. Conquer your fears and try to be strong minded. Try to live life by blocking all the misery out by having a strong mind. Do not try to pretend that misery does not exist though. Accept the misery as a part of life and believe in yourself that you can deal with it. It starts by getting involved in your life. Work-out, eat healthy food, study, start trying different activities until you find something that you might have natural passion in, hang out with friends and try to smile even if you don't feel like smiling. Eventually it might get easier and easier to find positivity in your life. Good luck.

Try getting into a very strenuous workout regimen...as much as your body can take (at 20 it can take a lot)...lift weights heavy and hard and run on your off days....sometimes that has shocked my body/brain out of the funk it was in...good luck.
