Basically it's whatever you negotiate.
Whatever the two of you agree to that you can live with. It changes all of the time.
In the past gender roles were defined and you didn't have to negotiate everything, but now you really do. The only thing you really can't do is birth and nurse the babies. Everything else anyone can do, so you do what's best for the unit of both of you, based on your skills, what you enjoy, your income earning ability etc. Good luck.

Depends on what you have both worked out. We switched roles. I returned to work and then after my husband was force retired, he watched our teenager, cooked, did the laundry, took out the garbage, shopped, but I had to keep after him about housework and not allowing water to puddle on the kitchen counter after preparing food or washing dishes because it does cause mold.

He learned to cook very well but gets a F in housekeeping (said he's not interested in that) and yardcare. I was still employed.

Your Boss, Manager, Secretary and Partner, all in one, and vice versa.
Think of it as starting a company with the one you trust the most.
