yellow is probably just tartar, or stain from coffee/tea/soda.

decay is dark brown I think.

You could try some tartar control and/or whitening toothpaste and see if it helps.

If it's decay, there is nothing you can do but go to the dentist.

Sometimes teeth will decay even with proper brushing... it's usually cause by a vitamin deficiency, namely calcium.

Decay is normally a darker brown color. If it is decay then you will need to have it taken care of because it will continue to decay until it spreads to the nerve if the tooth and then you will need to have a root canal done if you want to keep the tooth. I would go have a dentist take a look at it to make sure you do not have a cavity. You really don't want your tooth to get infected because it can cause major swelling and be very painful.

I take it by "keep this so called 'decay'" you mean to keep the tooth from deteriorating further.

Sorry, there's nothing you can do other than having a dentist drill and fill, presuming that it really is the start of a dental carie (most people know them as cavities).

If it really is decay, avoiding sweets and daily brushing will help, but is no guarantee that you'll be able to stay cavity-free for the rest of your life. Personal genetics, even the composition of your saliva, can be a factor.
