Jesus, in my humble and personal opinion, is different because He is NOT a religious leader.
Religious leaders are hypocrites because the enforce the letter of the law of their faith while, they themselves, cannot fulfill its unhuman demands.
Religious leaders have no compassion nor love. If anyone is not to do exactly as they're leading them to, they're automatically excluded and sometimes even put to death.
Religious leaders are seeking their own fulfillment and satisfaction. When it comes to, they'll put themselves in front of everyone else. And this list could go on for a few days...
But here's what I see in Jesus. He is true and sincere because He lifted the heavy burden religious leaders had laid on us yet He fulfilled every demand of the law above and beyond anyone - but did so humbly and meekly - not anoucing it like hypocrites do.
Jesus truly has compassion and loves us because He accepts all of those who are rejected and cast out by religious leaders.
And ultimately Jesus is not seeking His own fulfillment or will but that of the Father. And that is why, of any other religious leader, He innocently offered Himself up as the perfect sacrifice thus taking the place of all sinners and all of those who acknowledge they're not good enough by religious standards.
His ressurection after about 39 hours (3 days by the Jewish calendar) proves that what He did wasn't in vain. It will forever be true.
If you're tired and oppressed by religious leaders, their religion and their harsh demands, Jesus in contrast says: Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Because my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (His yoke simply is: Love God above all things and love your neighbor as yourself).
And this my friend, you will find nowhere and in no other religion. Only the free can experience this life through Jesus.

Actually, Jesus IS different . . . Christians believe he performed his first miracle at age thirty, was crucified then rose from the dead and is the son of God. Muslims believe he was the son of Mary, and spoke as an infant, telling all he was God's prophet, but there is no resurrection story . . . some believe Jesus to be an adept- an enlightened man, no more, no less, and yet others (Mormons) believe he's Satan's bro!
Sooooo, I guess it's whoever has the most political power/clout and yes, like someone also said, the best marketing strategy, that gets to decide who and what this Jesus was.
To me, he's an image . . . and these religious systems are really a political/economic beast in disguise.

Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God the Father in the flesh. He was the Creator, He is our Savior, and He will be our Judge. Under the direction of our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created the earth. Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and by giving His life on the cross—that is, by performing the Atonement—Jesus Christ saves us from our sins as we follow Him. Through His Resurrection, Jesus Christ saves us from physical death. Because He overcame death, we will all be given the gift of resurrection.

I guess you could probably look it up. There are major things that are very similar to Jesus and the other leader. They all want peace, they all want you to love everyone, they all have a place they call heaven and hell. The details are what makes them different such as, Jesus rose from the dead. Buddha achieved nirvana or enlightenment. Some other founders are dead such as Charles Taze Russell,

Jesus tells us that He is the only way to eternal life. Jesus tells us that He is life, He is truth and He is the way.
Jesus arose from the grave and 500 people saw Him after the crucifixion. The grave couldn't hold Jesus and He is coming again in great glory.
Jesus claims Creation and to be the Creator of all.

Some will say that Jesus is the only resurrected god-man. That could not be further from the truth. The character of Jesus was taken from earlier mythological god-man characters who were also born of virgins, died for our "sins," and were "resurrected." Oddly, some will say that these earlier god-men copied Jesus. I have no idea how anyone can come up with such twisted "logic" -- their myths existed before the Jesus myth -- but they do.

He is one of the only humans - next to the Egyptian pharaohs - that had the arrogance to call himself divine and the son of God. Today, that would put you in a mental hospital.

He is different because he is the only true son of God.
We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
