The US Military has a long succesful history or winning and being moral (with a few well-publicized and minority cases to the contrary.)

The US as a nation is the best most successful nation in the world with the most freedoms. As such, we do more than our fair share to help out other countries in humanitarian missions as well as the removal of tyrants or protection from terrorists.

The status of a nation has more to do with just the military. However, a nation's military oftens decayes with its society. An example of this is France before the Second World War.

I have read parts of Howard Zinn. Don't you find his statement that all historians are biased, but he biased in the right way, a little pompous. BTW, Zinn's field is not in history.

US is the only remaining superpower with the collapse of the USSR due to economic woes and separatist republics. There is no need for new settlement but just improve on politics and unity.
