So many things compete for the Place that the Lord should have in us.
Our heart is eagar sometimes to love other things before the Lord
I was having a time with the Lord this morning and was deeply touched with the words of this song. I thought I 'd share it with my brothers and sisters in the hopes that something of the words would reach out to you too. Any personal experience of the Lord being your first and best love are welcome

I don't know that song but I love the words! I remember my first love with Jesus when I was very young....I remember thinking that He knew EVERYTHING I did....and every word I said. I would get SUCH a guilty conscience if I did something wrong or hurt anyone. I would HAVE to make it right or I could not sleep! I thought EVERYONE would want to talk about Jesus too....but I was wrong.....so I stopped talking so much. Things change when you grow up sometimes. You want to feel accepted by people and all. Now I am finding that people are SO HURTING and they don't know where to look for help! If I am the same as everyone else how will they know that I have Jesus in my heart? I need to be "different" and let my light shine like when I was first in love with Jesus. When we are in love people can't help but notice....you just are too happy....and they WANT some of what you have!

Hi Sandy! Wow! What a beautiful song. The words of this particular song are very dear. Love is such a very high human emotion. True Love can not be measure. True love is indescriable. The Bible declares that our God is merciful. When I begin to think about the goodness of the Lord and all he has done for me, praise to him flows forth from my heart. We should praise God more than we do. God is worthy to be praised. Praise is one way we express our Love to God as expressed in this song. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of his people. When praises go up, blessings come down. The Psalmist says, I will praise the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be upon my lips. praise is intimate. Praise is one way we kiss God. Man becomes one with his maker. Their is spiritual oneness. Their is spiritual intimacy between the Creator and his Creation. God abides in us and we abide in him. That's Love. A bell is not a bell until you ring it. Love is not Love until you give it away. Love must be shared. Love must be expressed. Husband and wife should often express and reaffirm their Love to each other. We should also express our Love to God often. We do this by our participation in Worship. We do this by walking in the light even as he is the light. We do this by living in harmony with his Holy word. We do this by our obedience.
This Love relationship with God must be nurtured every day. God desires this fellowship with us. For we are made in his likeness.

I agree. In fact I think that's one of the biggest reasons why the divorce rate is so high nowadays. People are putting their spouse before the Lord, and that's a recipe for disaster. Only by putting God first in all things, including before your spouse, can you truly have a successful marriage.
