I am a Christian (no denomination);
If you find out why most of these Churches celebrate ishtar (easter) please, by all means let me know, okay?
Christ became our Passover, not our ishtar.
It is incredible that on the highest most sacred day in Christianity, when Christ spilled his blood for His people, you find them out there on church lawns rolling easter eggs. What an insult. An insult to
Biblically-learned Christians, and insult to God the Father, and insult to Jesus Christ and the Death on the Cross.
I love a boiled egg, but do not bring me one
on Passover.
Did Christ and the apostles roll eggs or did they celebrate the Passover? Its just plain
common sense. But there they are in their easter outfits and letting their little children unknowingly, ignorantly, carry those little baskets of eggs. Absolutely unbelievable.
Then to add more insult, they bring in the
"quick like the bunny" - with their little easter bunnies; they have no idea that what they
do is purely pagan practices; fertility rites and rituals. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

Pagans celebrate Yule around the same time. The early Christian church thought Christianity might appear to be more acceptable if they didn't entirely dismantle all the pagan festivals. Not that Pagans had much say in the matter...

The Pagan holidays that correspond to Christmas and Easter are Yule and Oestre, and were celebrated long before Christianity began. We Pagans still celebrate them so they are alive and well.

i think that Christmas is a methods too commercialized. I additionally agree, that some presents would desire to be extra liked than plenty. approximately lists -- i think that, if grandparents and others understand what the youngsters choose and could like, and could truly USE that's extra efficient than determining to purchase something they're going to easily toss aside or many no longer choose or want... that's basically my opinion... and human beings would desire to get what they are in a position to arise with the funds for.. and not flow overboard. that's not grasping whilst a individual responds to the question, "what could you like for Christmas?"... that's being attentive to what they are interested in... I even have continuously had my little ones make a small, intense high quality craft for close kin for christmas, and enjoying cards -- and now i do it with my granddaughter.. final 365 days we made angel adorns, that have been ordinary yet very incredibly. It supplies the youngsters a feeling of involvement and teaches them that that's totally intense high quality to grant... i do no longer think of there is something incorrect with present giving and receiving, yet as i mentioned there must be a decrease... greed happens whilst human beings and/or little ones are given issues consistently and that they arrive to assume to receive issues each and all of the time -- including, each and each time they see a grandparent or flow to the save with somebody... In my international, there is not any longer something incorrect with having a competent time, and celebrating the season, alongside with gaining understanding of the MESSAGE which suits with this holy season. take care.

The old Roman Church folded the festivals of both winter and spring into the Christian church calendar...everyone was up for celebrations, the groundwork for gathering people together to celebrate was already in place, so it united the new Christians by giving new ceremony and meaning to old cultural practices. Over time, the old pagan rites and their significance just melted away - but their timing remains.

They are both a celebration times of Jesus as I know them. I haven't learned that much of the pagan religion.(I'm slowly learning it though by the examples here.)
Easter- is Life, Death and Resurrection.
and
Christmas -Birth of Jesus.(most Christians know its not the exact date)
They are over commercialized I do Say. But I teach my kids the reason behind them and let them enjoy the time together as a family.

Most except what they are told without any clarification, yet it is true that pagan holidays were incorporated into the Christian holidays so that the pagans would be more comfortable with their religion.
