If you mean jewish as national origin, when He was born he did it from Mary who was from Israel, and He was born in the town of Bethlehem. For me that is enough to assign him the israeli or jewish religion.

If you mean jewish as religion, and agree that religion is the set of rites, beliefs, ceremonies that men do to relate with God... then He followed jews ceremonies, celebrations, but with the difference that He was apart of a jewish man, he was God himself. As God I do not see Him requiring a religion to relate with himself.

He taught the correct way to understand the Law that God (himself) gave to Moses, acomplished what the Law required, and proclaimed new laws (New Testamet) to be followed by us. The laws at the Old Testament related to the sacrifices for the sins were completely fullfilled by Jesus and thus not longer valid. Other laws from the OT are still valid under the NT.

Not only is Jesus Jewish, born in a Jewish home in a Jewish community in a Jewish nation with the Jewish Law and the Jewish Scriptures - not only is he all that, but furthermore, Jesus is the Jewish Messiah who fulfills the 300+ prophecies that the Jewish prophets foretold anywhere from 400 to 2,000 years prior to His birth.

Actually, the term "Christian" was given to the disciples (ie followers of Jesus) as an insult by their enemies.

Yes. In fact, Jesus is a descendent of one of the greatest kings of Isreal - King David.
The gospels tell of him going to temple and reading from the Torah, they speak of him keeping the Jewish feasts and ceremonial laws.

At the same time, Jesus was a critic of corruption and a reformer of some of the misunderstandings he saw in Jewish life.

Additionaly, he was the embodiment of God's concern for ALL people and reached out to embrace non-Jews as well.

So yes he was Jewish..... and more!

He was a member of the Nazarene sect of the religion of Judah. Modern Judaism evolved from the Pharisaical sect of ancient Judaic religions.

Sorry Taz, the Romans crucified Jesus, later Christian writers, in creating the Jesus story, blamed the Pharisees in a successful effort to suck up to the Romans.
