I don't claim to be a perfect man. Sometimes in my life I get down right selfish. That these times, it's like I have closed my eyes to the leadings of my Lord and walked away. Then I'll open and He is no where to be found. Again I turn to my senses call out for Him and he comes and gets me again. He is very loving and has a special concern for His lost sheep. Can I live that life of compassion..not without Him? Do I with Him? There isn't any other way to be and stay in His presence... Jim

Jesus' 11th commandment was to love one another.
People live compassionately every day. Otherwise there would be no charity in the world, no soup kitchens in big cities for the poor, etc..
Ages ago Saint Francis of Assisi started the Secular Franciscan Order to organize regular laity who wanted to follow his merciful ways..

tigger, that is so true.
It hurts so much not to be able to love other people... Those who lack compassion are the ones most needful of our unconditional love, so they can learn how to love themselves.
The inner pain causes the outward aggression and disrespect. Loving self comes before loving any other... but how to get that self-love? (Only to be loved by another or Another.)
Spiritual awareness and compassion are something we can seek ... but can it really be achieved? Much of what motivates achievement is competition and pride, while compassion is inclusive and humble.
Still, it feels like a joyful achievement when I find compassion in my heart, rather than selfishness. It gives me great joy to know I have overcome so much... but the credit is not mine alone.

Absolutly, Compassion means you know the others position and are inclined to be of service. The opposite is sympathy wich means you know how the others "FEEL"or in other words you come down to their experiencial level.

Yes, but it takes a lot of work and a lot of patience. Ghandi had it right... and we can only change ourselves. We can't force change on others.
