Given that every generation that has ever lived has had some myth that they lived in the end times, why do we think we are any different? See this link for a "brief history of the apocalypse">

The first entry is the coolest - an Assyrian tablet from 2800 BC talks about those days as being "these latter days" and how everything is going downhill and crime is rampant...... Heck... I bet there were "wars and rumors of wars" too!

Depends. The ancient Mayan calendar which is more accurate than anything we have come up with today, predicts the end of the world in 2012 due either a huge flood or some other natural disaster of cataclysmic proportions. If you check scientific facts now you will see that by 2012 if predictions and scientific data are correct, the Ross Ice Shelf will break off making the largest iceberg in recent history. At 1500 square miles two miles thick after it melts all of the oceans of the world will rise 47 to 50 feet. All rivers leading to the oceans will also rise. It has been calculated that the Mississippi river will become about 400 miles wide. I hope I am around to see it.

I don't think the world will end in the next 40 years, however I do think that we are seeing the beginning of the end.

In the Book of Mathew, the Disciples ask Christ about the end of times. Christ gave them some important clues:

"Be careful, and do not let anyone deceive you, because many will come saying I am Christ, but believe them not"

Jim Jones stated that he was Christ and forced hundreds to commit a mass suicide.

David Koresh stated that he was Christ and led many people to their death.

"Nation shall rise against nation"

Just look at wars we have had in the last 100 years. We went through 2 World Wars, used a nuclear bomb to wipe out 2 cities in Japan. We have had 2 wars in the Persian Gulf, conflicts in Vietnam and Korea respectively.

"There will be Earthquakes in various locations"

Last week there was an 8.0 earthquake in Peru, in the past 20 years alone there have been some very devastating quakes. In 1995 Kobe Japan experienced a 7.0 quake, in 1994 Los Angeles experienced a 6.2 quake, and in 1989 San Francisco experienced a 6.8 quake. Then you must look at the devastating Tsunami in 2004 that was set off by an Earthquake.

Christ mentions these events as only the beginning of the end.

It's been the 'last days' since they wrote the bible tale. But even if you bellieve it's the end of the world, it's not. That was a bad translation. It should say, 'end of the age.' It's the end of the age of Pisces and the beginning of the age of Aquarius- officially, around 2150.

There IS the problem of Nirubu crossing earth- unsure when that will happen, but some say, it could happen between now and 2012. It crosses the earth every 3600 years and causes a pole shift that will apparently wipe out about 90% of humanity, but will not destroy the earth. But who knows?

I guess we'll see?

There is no doubt a purification is coming about. When the Mayan calendar ends, with it is a new beginning, a spiritual that takes over from a once material ruled world.
The Mississippi will enlarge, it's been proving that since last year, and look at the flooding going on right now.

the bible makes it clear that when the end is near there
will be scoffers. WOW. some perdiction. and that there
will be a great falling away. again WOW. there will be more
of every kind of hell and desolation. gee gimmy whillikers.
is that a coincidence or what! that all will know of ADONAI
and yet turn away. where can't one here about it. the
world has been evangelized. Israel is a nation again.
maybe all we are waiting for is YESHUA. even if we have
to wait another 2000 years, these are truely end times.

'Open ended-sheeple whip' LOL. I like it.

While the religionists don't care because they think they are all going to play with daddy in the sky forever....they also risk joining the sheeple consumerists in a race for Who Can Poison The Earth Quickest.

I mean, if it's going to be destroyed anyway according to their religion, why bother, right? And they ignore all the thousands of failed End Of World dates that precede 'theirs', because 'theirs is the real one, natch!

Sheesh.

Now, back to what we are actually screwing up by being morons....a dose of reality please...

...or we could talk bunkum about lizardoids, 'Niburu, ', 'End Times, the Mayans, 'numerological' calendar howlers and, er, aliens.... because it makes us sound soooo important and mystikally tuned in.

ARgh!

Great site! Definitely if we aren't in the end times now, it will come sooner ... well maybe not so soon... ok, later still works... maybe in a few generations, centuries...

The sad thing is that while you shouldn't be a "doom sayer", it doesn't hurt to be prepare for likely catastrophes.
