First, you should understand impermanence and the law of cause and effect because with the understanding that things are not fixed and do not occur without concomitant causes, liberation or enlightenment would not be possible for anyone. Then, because all sentient beings, or beings with the five appropriated aggregates - specifically humans - have this human mind and incredible intelligence and potential (sometimes called Buddha-nature or Buddha-potential.) Because humans have this Buddha-nature and because the afflictions like anger, hate and attachment are not of the mind or mental continuum and because the afflictions and the imprints of the afflictions can be removed from the mind and mental continuum in the same way dirt can be removed from a cloth, it is said that liberation and enlightenment are entirely possible. So, you (and everyone you know) already possess the basic requirement which is the human mind and the resources are teachings on the graded stages of the path to enlightenment. Nirvana (or liberation from cyclic existence) isn't a place, it's a mind-state but Buddhahood is unsurpassable, true, complete enlightenment which requires renunciation, bodhicitta and the wisdom realizing the true nature of reality as its causal factors.

Forget about enlightenment, it's not that big a deal and not the focus of our practice.
But the requirement would be to just sit zazen and establish a firm will to truth.

Thevonly requirement is to be open to the process. Don't make it difficult also don't lose yourself in the process. Always remember you have a brain and you are the one that does your thinking

Culturing stillness.
And this has been the case with all religions. Be still and know that I am God.
God is hiding... but God is hiding in the subject, not the objective world. God is hiding in the "I Am."

You need to have experienced every facet of life through reincarnation and need to be willing to give up your physical desires.
