Law enforcement has always been a bottom up effort. Now, we have a series of morons functioning as Mayors who have decided that their law enforcement efforts do not apply to enforcement of federal law. The answer is obvious. As for Chicago, I lived in the suburbs for years and the Emperor Dick II was constantly complaining the the 'burbs' would not accept any of the people from the public housing areas that he was tearing down as part of his city improvement efforts. That arrogant little twerp (the Mayor) wanted us to accept responsibility for helping relocate these people while accepting all the associated crime that would come with them. For these problems, the Emperor Dick II blames guns and wants them outlawed. At the same time, he feels so safe that he goes around with 4 plain clothes police officers as his personal bodyguards. What a hypocrite.

The history of the Sanctuary goes way, way back. It has always been a safe haven for a person who is in danger. That doesn't mean he can spend the rest of his life in sanctuary, but it does mean a temporary reprieve from danger. If we take that away from our churches we will be changing a lot more than where illegal immigrants can go.We will be changing beliefs and traditions that have nothing at all to do with ICE or any other agency. It has to do with humanity.

Sanctuary cities have invited terror on themselves and have become too much of a risk. I think they should be offered funds but the people in those cities should have to pay higher taxes to offset the cost. They should also pay higher medical costs since their hospitals will be run into the ground giving free healthcare, and the social system will be utterly destroyed. Sanctuary cities is step one in the "how to build a slum" process.

Actually there is no such thing as a "sanctuary city", for illegal aliens anywhere in the USA.
They can call it whatever they want, it doesn't mean the words carry any legal weight.
US federal law supercedes all other laws in this nation, including state and local laws (like county and city).
US federal law says specifically that it is unlawful (a felony crime) to harbor, provide shelter to, or protect any illegal alien from arrest by ICE. The law goes on to specify that includes all individuals, all groups, including churches and all agencies (including local governments).
A city may THINK and SAY they are a "sanctuary" for illegal aliens, but the truth is, the federal government ICE agents can go anywhere they want, anytime they want, and arrest any and all illegal aliens, anywhere they want, including any church, and including any city that ignorantly believes they are a sovereign nation unto themselves and do not have to comply with our nations laws.
ALL states are part of the nation, all counties and parishes are part of the nation, all cities are part of the nation, and the nations laws hold precident, and are the final word on immigration and illegal immigrants.
When a city claims it is a "sanctuary" for illegal aliens, it is a bad thing because the leaders of the city are showing the entire nation they are idiots who do not have a clue about the laws of this country, and a city run by idiots is in big trouble.

Hurt... The problem with Sanctuary cities is that in an effort to "protect" illegal immigrants they do not cooperate with other law enforcement and when a criminal is brought to justice we often find out that he/she has a rap sheet a mile long.
We recently had case in the city in which I live where an illegal immigrant slammed into the back of a car with two teenagers in it, the occupants were killed and later we found out that this man had 3 prior DUI's (in a very short period of time) in a neighboring city.
The failure of local authorities to cooperate and sanctuary policies are responsible for those two teenage lives. Its not the first time this has happened in my area and it won't be the last. The citizens are now fighting local government to abolish sanctuary policies and some in our county government have seen an end to their careers over the fiasco.

they hurt and more and more the murders, gang members and other more evil elements have migrated to them for safety. crime rates are rising there and many of their citizens are rethinking their choice.
my state is one of the few has passed laws to enforce the existing federal laws and the illegal population has gone elsewhere by the droves. it cost our state nothing to deport them as jobs and housing was denied any illegal alien. any state could pass laws such as this and like my state will see a drastic reduction in the problems associated with the illegals.

Sanctuary cities absolutely and unequivocally hurt the entire country. First of all, sanctuary cities feed a lawless subculture wherein gangs, mobsters and criminals rule. They hold the people hostage because the leaders have infiltrated the government of the cities and the police departments so there is no law for anyone. When even the police are crooked and lawless, there can be no order in a community. Sanctuary Cities promote discrimination and abuse of power under color of law, cause tax dollars to be used for illicit and illegal purposes and generally cause problems for everyone. Sanctuary cities have effectively thumbed their noses at the Constitution of the USA and by their doing so have effectively ceceded from the USA. Therefore they should not be entitled to any federal or state tax dollars or monies and the national guard should be called in to restore order and lawfulness. Every leader of a sanctuary city who approves of such behavior should be tried for treason and should be tried for fraud, mail fraud, tax fraud, subversion of the U.S. Government, insurrection, discrimination, abuse of power under color of law and as many other charges as we, the people, the law-abiding citizens of the USA can bring to bear on them.
You'll notice that the sanctuary cities are all trying to disarm U.S. Citizens by having these gun turn in drives. This is all under the guise of keeping neighborhoods safe. You will also notice that the crimes are perpetrated primarily on the black neighborhoods which makes this whole thing very suspicious in my opinion. I believe these city leaders are having their gangs commit these crimes so they can disarm U.S. citizens to further their own criminal activities. Today, more than ever, U.S. Citizens need to learn to use weapons of all kinds and they need to stand up for themselves. Under no circumstances should law-abiding citizens give up their guns or their weapons because with the influx of all this lawlessness, we may need to protect ourselves. Remember that when lawful of possession of firearms is terminated, only the outlaws will have guns. That stands to reason, especially when you look at the fact that we have so many illegal immigrants -- people who have no respect for the law -- and gangsters who not only have guns but get them from the evidence rooms at the police departments from crooked police. I would encourage people to establish neighborhood watches, take pictures of all the jerks who drive by or walkby and shoot and publish the pictures on the internet. You can do this anonymously so the gangs and criminals would find it harder to seek you out. Make sure your camera has a date and time feature so you can prove the time and place. If we get tough and force the government to do its job, our country will be safe to live in and we will be done with illegal immigrants and sanctuary cities.

The only thing that sanctuary cities do is encourage illegal immigrants to keep coming and drain the local economy in the city. They are not in any way good for us.

If all of the illegals lived only in the santuary cities I would be fine with that. Everyone knows that eventually (very quickly) that the santuary cities would be identical to Mexico and would soon self-destruct.
