You don't say if you have any transport (car) or what part of France.

If you are travelling from London, best to take the train from Waterloo and through the tunnel, although I don't think that this is always the cheapest option.

Cheaper is on the ferry, but you would still need to travel from London to the ports (e.g. Dover) and then use transport the other side to go to your French destination.

By plane could be a reasonable option - there are some cheap flights, but again you would need transport to wherever you are going in France.

Also - do you mean a day trip or a holiday?
If it is a day trip, there are various offers to take up (e.g. by coach all included which solves the problem of your own transport), but if you want to buy lots of duty free this can be a problem if going by coach as you may be limited due to weight restrictions.

The ferries are usually less expensive than flying or taking the Eurostar. However, you'll spend many more hours traveling. The Eurostar often runs discount fares, especially if you're booking well in advance. It's probably worth checking it out. The time saved and the incredible convenience of going from central London to central Paris in less than 3 hours is worth a lot.

Ferry would be your cheapest option. You can get a ferry from Dover to Calais and from memory I think it takes about 2 hours roughly.Look online at P&O Ferries and SeaFrance.

Ferry. There is no cheaper way - if you have no money what is the point of going in the first place.

ferry from Dover to Calais (1 hour crossing) will be very cheap (probably your cheapest option), the train will be one of the most expensive, so don't be tempted just because you can get it from London.
