it really would depend on your taste preference and how you plan to cook them ,long and slow in a closed cooker or open grill.
on the sweet side--
marinate over night in apple juice.
remove from marinade.
rub with
1 cup brown sugar
tsp each
white pepper
cracked black pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
chili powder.

savory
ommit the marinade and the brown sugar
add 1/2 tsp course salt
tsp thyme

spicy
add 1/2 tsp cayenne to the first list of spices
add salt if you want.leave in the brown sugar for sweet /hot.

different hot
3 tsp mustard powder
cracked black pepper
course salt
2 tsp white sugar
1/2 tsp apple pie spice
I serve these ribs with a honey mustard sauce.

So i think you can see there are a million ways to do it depending on what you like.the only limitation is your imagination. experiment untill you find your favorite way of doing it.

Chili Powder
Paprika
Crushed Red Pepper
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Brown Sugar
Chopped onion or onion powder
and if you must use salt (some people refuse to add salt to a rub) use either Kosher or seasoned.

Mix and match any or all of these to your taste.

Could you give more detail? Do you mean slow-smoke for eight hours or so or a high-heat grilling? It makes a difference.
