Some say it was fine because those particular fish had come from a legal fish farm rather than having been caught in the wild illegally. Others think that whether the fish comes from a well-managed farm or is found in the wild, it is still endangered, and a poor choice for an environmental activist to have for a wedding dinner for hundreds of people.
What do you think?

It's ridiculous to think he "wasn't consulted regarding the menu." Ever planned a child's wedding? You micro-manage EVERYTHING.

Regarding meritocracy ... I'm just as good at my job as he is at his. The only difference is that I'm not rich and famous. Wouldn't that mean that I deserve to eat whatever I want, too?

If he wants to be taken seriously he can't be eating endangered fish no matter where they came from.

Al Gore is an acknowledged Environmental expert [ Product of Media otherwise, of a dubious distinction]and]. If he thinks it's OK ,foots the bill then it should be OK by others. What I fail to understand is in what way his daughter's marriage ceremony would have had a lesser .grandeur if some other equally good and expensive variety of fish was served. Environment and hypocrisy don't jell, but who can convince Al Gore?

Too bad he didn't get some of that Bangkok pufferfish that was being passed off as salmon. Think of all of those carbon credits he had to use to cover the fuel used to bring up fish from Chile.

In the direct sense, eating farm food has no impact at all on wild reserves, and so is utterly guilt free. As regards indirect connections: Phooey.
More to the point, I believe in a system of meritocracy. If Al Gore wants fish, he can have fish.
If you become a genius, vice-president and a world famous activist, then you can have fish too.

the blind followers of socialism and marxism wont see your point. Its all about do as I command not as i do. Al is a hypocrite and really believes, just like all of the "ruling class" in marxist socialist order, that he knows how to "handle" endangered fish and so its OK to eat them. The average citizen isn't so "equipped" to handle endangered fish!
he is a wind bag and full of it!

I once heard a very clever thing. Only for true human beings-who are not involved in wars of aggression and don't use depleted uranium-is it is moral to eat meat and fish. Besides, yes, it is a poor choice for "an enviriomental activist".

I think that's horrible. If any person off the streat wanted to eat endangered chilean sea bass, would we be allowed? no. al gore shouldn't get specific treatment! and he definately shouldn't be eating an endangered animal. that just sickens me!

Screw a Chilean sea bass.Everyone so damn concerned about a bass,a salamander,a fly going extinct. That is nature.99% of everything that ever lived is extinct.Extinction allowed mammals to rise and eventually humans. It is the way of nature. Now,all of a sudden,we must deny evolution and take it upon ourselves not to let nature do its job. That is absurd.Thumbs down away eco freaks

Al Gore is a total hypocrite in every way.
I would expect no less from him. He cries and makes money spouting on about 'global warming' while he drives around in his monster SUV and lives in a 28 room mansion with 8 bathrooms!
