Who/What ever created us in this world obviously intended the species to propagate or else "it"/science/God wouldnt have made it feel good.

But I mean... whats the point when we will all die sometime anyway... and all that we learned about the world through-out our lives... our children... and our children's children will have to RElearn everything again anyway and some parts will be forgotten forever unless we document our knowledge.

Does the existance of the world have a finite purpose? Or is it too vague that nobody knows for sure and JUST LIVE FOR THE MOMENT sort of thing?

Like a TORCH RELAY during an Olympics but not knowing the person who passed you the torch and the person who youre going to pass the torch to. And also not knowing the final destination of the TORCH or let alone the purpose of the Torch Relay in the first place.

I hope you understand what i mean.

I like Mattew T's answer the best so far.

Ive felt MOST FULFILLED when I was closest to God. It was one of my highest of highs. And the times that Ive neglected God was one of the lowest of lows for me. So I guess religion does make sense after all... even if there is a God or no God. The Bible makes sense somehow... a metaphor for the philosophy on how you should pursue a life of bliss.

It literally means survival of the species.

So lets see if I understand, carry your torch around, giving it to anyone you meet, it doesn't matter who as long as you pass it on to somebody? It doesn't matter that we don't know why? Our children will have to relearn this too?

Propagate freely, because it not only feels good but there is an 'intention' by whomever for this to be the case? Overpopulation is not an issue?

If you have some form of spirituality then this overrides the need to pass the torch around? This ultimately eliminates accidents when so many people are burnt by playing with all these torches? Spirituality gives you this purpose so follow your spiritual path to find real happiness??????

I like the "torch relay" example. Evolution proceeds from species to species, with many overlaps of a variety of species, at any one time, as we know it on Earth!

However, within each species, their is individual species propagation, until the concerned species becomes extinct.

I disagree that one must postulate a God in order to find a purpose in being alive. What is wrong with living for the good of those who follow you? Or living for your own sense of self-worth, or even for your own pleasure in living? These can all be worthy purposes.

Also, it is not necessary to postulate a single, all-encompassing God, or even a creator-God specifically, in order to have something beyond one's own life which gives that life meaning. I have a spiritual life, of real significance to myself, without knowing precisely what it is that is beyond myself. I am content to have a theory, and let the proof come when I die.

Let me clarify, I hope.

Life has no point, no meaning, no purpose, unless there is a God.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

Evolution is a mindless natural process that cannot give anyone a purpose for existing anymore than a rain storm can give a raindrop a purpose. If there is no God, our need for purpose is just some chemical shot into our brain brought to us by some evolutionary process. It would just be a feeling with no meaning behind it.

Well, just imagine lying on your deathbed and thinking that you wasted your life sitting on a couch and not learning anything. Sucks right? So, people document things that they learned for future generations. It won't last forever, but at least the species improve, even if not everyone is there to appreciate it. People have conscience, knowing that the responsibility falls on them for the future generations to learn. So, looking at this perspective, you can imagine you're lying on your deathbed, knowing that you've helped billions by recording bits of knowledge.

So that more people will be thinking about the same questions. The answers they get during their own lifetime are most probably unique; but through this, there is a variety of answers to the same question.

The propogation of the species is a goal unto itself. There is no real "point" or meaning for such, unless man (or other specimen) can create a reasonable meaning for oneself.
