Sound advice indeed but here are a few riders from a senior citizen:

- Alas, all new faces seem the same (and not different) for the capacity to file away new info is diminishing by the day !

- I would love to think weight is only a number but my doctor stubbornly refuses to buy that - apparently my entire well-being depends on my weight !

- The last time I took that occasional risk, I sprained my ankle, everybody said I should no longer be so foolhardy at my age !

I don't agree with the "Don't waste food" bit. So many seniors give themselves food poisoning from eating leftovers that are well beyond the safe stage.

I say that you should learn to freeze your leftovers in serving sizes. This is easy enough using zipper freezer bags, and a soup plate....just lay the freezer bag onto the plate, and fill it with a meal's worth of your leftover food (always assuming that the food is cooked and not raw). Then squeeze out the extra air, label the bag with the type of food inside and the date, and place in the freezer. Once it is frozen through, you can remove the plate.

THEN if you don't feel like cooking, go and get one of your already prepared meals out of the freezer and put it back on your soup plate and place it in the microwave (making sure to open the zipper a bit to let steam escape). A few minutes later--there you go--a safe, hot meal. (Just open the zipper completely and slide the contents of the bag into the soup plate to eat it.)

Make sure that you rotate the oldest meals to the front every time you add more of them to your freezer. That way you will always be eating them before they start suffering from freezer burn. (Prepared frozen meals are good for a minimum of 3 months--most closer to 6 months. The ones that do especially well are those in sauces.)

Not a bad set of maxims to live by, but I am not sure about all that exercise.
I have just found this category and must say I have never liked the term senior citizen its a bit to pompous for me.
Don't (with respect) some of you burble on about things and not as many question about the aged as I expected.
Do you do what I do sneak question in on an answer and do you get violations. I got another this morning because I told somebody to go away in what I admit was a rather impolite manner. I told him he was stirring the sheet about the McCanns and some body reported me. and my answer was deleted sad that don't you think.

Don't fret about the frog person.
The west Maryland mountains have your London fog this morning-real cool sight.
They are great thoughts to live by along with many others I could think of, no matter where or when they come from. Ageless!
Have a great day

I always smile when I visit my grandad he was quite involved in the music when he was younger and has some of your recordings dating back to the 1940s and there's a couple of photo's of you as well, I won't give your true identity away but I wonder do you still sing and are any of the old band still around .

Good thoughts! Getting old brings enough problems that it always helps to do whatever it takes to be cheerful, keep a good attitude and not waste a second of what time's left! God bless!

confident, agreed. yet that doesn't propose you do no longer contemplate concerning the point of your existence. Its hurling your self down an abyss in case you do so. Why anybody is so careful approximately taking danger in enterprise and whilst it includes their lives, the point of their lives, they are so heedless.

Certainly sounds to be good advice. People ought to take more time for themselves as well as thinking about other people.
