Were you asked to do a monologue? In my experience, a musical theatre audition generally goes like this:
You sing. If they like you, you get a call back and you are asked to dance. If you dance well then you are asked to read from the script.

These can actually happen in any order, but in general, singing goes first. If you pass that test then you either read or dance next. I have never seen an audition for a musical where they ask you to prepare a monologue. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't do that somewhere obviously, but it just seems out of the ordinary.

For straight plays or course it's always good to have at least 2 contrasting pieces in your repetoire. 1 dramatic and 1 comedic, etc. The problem with making a suggestion is that you don't give your gender or your age both of which are critical to choosing the right material. I suggest going to the following websites:
www.stageagent.com
www.musicaltheatreaudition.com
and exploring the features and tis they have to offer. On stage agent you can use the part finder to see which roles suit you and use the results to guide you in choosing material for auditions.

break a leg :-)
