1. You have to start hanging around people (men) who hold your same values and likes (at least some of them). You have to find something in common. It doesn't have to be sports. It can be music.
2. Usually but not always, good friends tend to be around the same age.
3. You start off being acquaintances first, then casual friends (maybe even in a small group of other friends) and then over time, you may become close friends. It takes longer for two men to become close friends than it does for two girls or even a boy and a girl. Men like to be around other men but they also have a mutual mistrust of one another until they know each other for a while.
4. This will take a while Stanley. You have to be patient because men are wired different (psychologically) than women.
5. Men can be emotional -- or at least understand what you are going through -- and they can give advice -- but when they do, oftentimes they seem drained, so you have to give them a break from the emotional end of things sometime to recharge themselves.
I hope this helps. Good luck Stanley.

heh, be glad then.
I think other guys are better at hiding their emotions, so not seeing any on them doesn't mean they are emotionless. Many of my friends thinks I'm that way too, but the fact is I just let my emotions out elsewhere, not for others to see.
It will only work if you can find a friend who shares the same interest as you do. Movies, music, many guys likes them too.

Its easiest if your part of a club, such as Sports but as you said your not athletic. Are you still in education, because its normally quite easy to find someone with a common interest you yours in university, ect. There will always be someone who shares the same interests as you, its just finding them is the problem. Try getting to know friends of friends, some of my good friends i've met through someone else.
Don't worry too, not everyones obsessed with football/ sport in general.
