The whole thing is pretty simple, since the GOP is really the upper 2% rich in the first place they have always centered themselves for their own agendas. Power and more wealth. They don't care about anyone but them selves. The funny thing to the whole matter is when it comes to collecting the votes the GOP politicians will always lie about anything and then when elected go right back to the original objective. Closed minded without any reagard for anyone else. The proof is in the pudding.
Democrats have been bailing out the USA from Republican rule now for decades, like I said the proof is in the pudding.

All conservatives are not straight white Christian males. Conservatives have values and ideals opposite of those espoused by the left wing Liberals. Conservatives do want change but not in the direction of socialism. The biggest fear of the conservative is that more of their hard working dollars would go out of their pocket and into yours without having any choice as to where their monies go. Conservatives already give more to charities than the Liberals, but they prefer to make their own choices and wish for everyone to have individual freedom. Conservatives want everyone to have a good education, a good job and to appreciate the rights enjoyed by everyone in our great nation.

Your first question is more apt than the second.
The conservative mindset is -- by definition -- resistant to change. Many are willing to consider other concepts -- one common meaning of "open-minded" -- but they favor options that involve as little change as possible. That's a matter of choice, inherent in the conservative mindset.
Your characterization of "rich straight white Christian males" is a coincidental side effect. Because that was the primary power block for centuries, tradition (keeping things the same) would preserve that.
But those particular attributes are not inherent in the conservative mindset -- that's just an artifact of history.

I'm sorry but you left out the unwashed and unlearned who are the recepients of the brash boisterous bar room bully-ish antics of the Republican George W. Bush/ Rush Limbaugh's peculiar magnetism. They comprise the majority of the Republicans. It is the rich white males who Pretend to be Christian with all their moral values, et.,al and ad nauseum that contribute to that brand of politiking.
However, they're winning and that's why we're here in the midst of a greatest military blunder that is continueing to getting support by the aforementioned.
It does get some getting used to, don't it?

Close mindedness is a bi partisan disease. You can't just see one side's weakness while being totally oblivious to your own.
I do agree with the fact that many of them tend to quickly label things when they disagree with it ("Terrorists" "WMD" "9.11" "Patriot"), but then again, the democrats would do the same thing too even though I support them b/c I'm ready for some change in this nation (which I damn well hope they can provide).
The question would be better if it were to ask, "why are some Americans close-minded?"

The word "conservative" means Tending to oppose change; favoring traditional values. They are so called close-minded, because they don't want change. They are comfortable with the way things are or use to be. It is very hard for someone like this to change. It scares them. A lot of people are afraid of change or anything different from themselves. These type of people will take a very long time to ever change their way of thinking. Attacking them does no good.

Conservatives are closed minded to Liberals agenda as much as Liberals are closed minded to Conservative agendas. What is you point on two different points of views. Would you suggest only one point of view. That sounds like Socialism or Communism to me.

That's a pretty close-minded question. Care to elaborate, rather than just stereotyping?
